The leg should heal up as long as you keep him nice and quiet. Keep him in a smallish flat area with nothing to climb on to rest the leg. Give lots of bedding to burrow in and things like loo roll tubes and chew sticks. Milky porridge and a calcium enriched dog biscuit can help the bone heal well. Sometimes they can heal a little crooked but the main thing is to stop any infection by being extra vigilant with the cleaning. Did he get any meds? I expect he feels very sorry for himself and hope he gets well soon.

He's on antibiotics. Took him to the vet again as he looked at deaths door. The vet now thinks Theo's leg is cut, he doesn't think it's broken, which is excellent He's in the Habitrail Playground that Sir D came in. I turned the house compartment on its side, so he doesn't have to struggle up a steep tube to get to his bed.

We found the antibiotics did make Kipton a bit sleepier than normal and it is about three days before they kick in. Is the antibiotic given by syringe? We found this quite tricky but just make sure the syringe is right in the side of the cheek before you press else it end up all over their face All the best for a speedy recovery

lol no, thank goodness. I need to put one drop of the syringe into 50ml of water in his bottle.

Chinese don't drink that much fluid though, makes me wonder how he will get the benefit of the meds

Well thats what I said to our vet so he agreed that the hamster would not likely get enough so then he diluted it to the right strength and we had to give .05ml into the cheek once a day. It least we knew he had the meds then. You could give them a call and say you think he is not drinking much and could they advise how to ensure he got enough. Some do not like the taste so will not drink the water with it in It is a problem. How is he tonight?

One of the vets I go to mixes baytrail with some sweet, pink vitaminy stuff, makes hams go mad for it...not sure if you could go to the vet and ask for pink sticky stuff, wish i'd got the name of it. Otherwise try a bit of ribena!

i had to give one of my robo runts anti-inflamatories and i just dripped it onto a spinach leaf and shockingly, she just licked it off! i also tried mixing it with oats to make a teeny bit of porriage and she ate that, too.

Theo has taken to his bottle with the meds in really well

He has also bulked up a lot since he has been separate from Sky. His fur is well groomed, and he is walking just fine.

Theo is healing well
