Re: Can Pets at Home refuse me back my hamster?
Awww he is darling. Is he black or that browny colour he looks like on the pic. If he is brown he is likely a Chocolate hamster in colour!
If you can it is a good idea to put away maybe £1 a week in a special vet fund so if he does need vet care in the future it is there for him.
Hope he feels better soon. I expect they will give him Baytril. Toes usually heal up well and he will likely be good as new when he comes home.
You would be as well to give him a half teaspoon of live yogurt a day or sprinkle the ProC probiotic on his food and in his water to build up the good bacteria in his tummy that the antibiotic will kill off.

Re: Can Pets at Home refuse me back my hamster?
UPDATE! Rang P@H first thing this morning (when they opened)...they scared me at first and went..oh...did he go into the adoption area? I was like, noooo!!! So he went, rang me back and said "the lil guy looks clear of injury and just has a little scab left", I double checked he had been given some anti-biotics and he said two days worth and we can pick him up today or whenever. I will go tonight (if i can get a lift) or tomorrow so hopefully our lil guy will be home ^_^
With his scab, will he clean that off himself or should i try bath it off? Im guessing they have a natural antibacterial in their salvia like dogs yeh?
The picture had to be lightened, he is black, he has the white belly stripe i read that comes with black/ he was the darkest in the shop, looks like a little rat bless..hes not o everyones taste!
I have used vitamin drops before, is that the same sort of thing?
I have an emergency account I use for 'unexpectables' so don't worry and we have an RSPCA hospital down the road, just as P@H were offering vet care I thought I would see how they went. They used Baytril, told me on Sunday and a new guy said he had had that today x

Re: Can Pets at Home refuse me back my hamster?
Great news
Don't bathe the scab as it needs to stay on till the healing has finished underneath. Our last litter had a baby we called 'sore toe' as he had it nipped. By the time he was 4 weeks it was perfect and we never did anything.
When you get him back ask at the store for the ProC powder. It is not the same as vitamins as it is a probiotic powder to help the digestive tract stay healthy (a bit like that actimel stuff for humans) They may give you it for free! (It's not that dear though)
Looking forward to seeing him home again. Sounds like he has been well treated there.
