I know what you mean! Everytime I turn around a new cage that hasn't been available in the US, shows up on Amazon. I'm afraid to get the Kevin! With my luck, the next week after I buy it, something bigger and better would be available! lol
Thanks for the idea about the stickers! I've also seen people use duct tape on the outside of the base and I have a friend of mine who painted the outside base of the Kevin too!
In all honesty, I've wanted the Kevin for a long while. I have a DIY'ed Marchioro Luxor (greenhouse) that is the same floor space as the Kevin (but not as high) that fits into my Vetko stand, but the clear top is getting quite scratched up and it is stained from some gel clings I put on it last Christmas. So, I'm looking for a replacement, but I'd like it to fit in the Vetko stand.

I got the Mickey 2XL for a Syrian but I wanted to make sure mice couldn't get in as we occasionally get mice - hence going for 7mm bar spacing. After 9 months I found that near the top of the door the spacing is actually 1cm on a couple of bars! It's a great cage but given the choice I would get the Kevin which has an even better front door and a few extra centimetres of space.
Yes the Igor has 1cm bar spacing. It looks like the Kevin is for dwarf hamsters and mice, the Igor for Syrians and the Goran for Rats (or Syrians). Some details here
Hamster Cage Igor Fuchsia - 82 x 51 x 36 cm (L x W x H)
All the accessories in the Kevin would be great for a dwarf hamster too (although I'm not sure about the house) - but they're too small for a Syrian really.
On the other hand the accessories in the Savic Mickey 2XL are good for a dwarf hamster too - it comes with a sputnik, some tubes and a small wheel (can't remember how big the wheel is, I binned it. It also comes with a metal grid shelf which needs removing really, unless you cover it with something like cardboard or a hemp or grass mat. Very bad for hamsters feet. I certainly find it a very nice, well built cage and it's about the same price as the Kevin. The Kevin is a couple of centimetres lower and a couple of centimetres wider though, which might be better for a dwarf hamster. Either way they are both good cages.

Thank you very much for the clarification! I've been driving myself crazy trying to compare and decide. We have a Syrian, and probably will always have Syrians. I'm just partial to those little guys. The cage I saw on Amazon was the Mickey 2XL. It's currently in stock but I'm hesitant to purchase from Amazon, as others who have tried have gotten broken or used cages (from third party vendors). The Goran will be out of stock for another few weeks (on drfostersmith.com).
I happened to be at a huge pet store this weekend that carried the Kevin. They had one floor model, and I wasn't impressed. It could've been that it just wasn't assembled correctly - the door didn't seem to fit snugly and slid from side to side, leaving a fairly large gap on either side when it moved. They had one other Kevin but the box was open and the pieces were just thrown in so I was hesitant to take the chance on it. I've seen photos and reviews though and people seem to really have good experiences with it.
If I only plan to house syrians, do you feel the Goran would be suitable? Or would you suggest the Mickey? The Goran seems to be a bit cheaper but I'm okay spending more if the quality is better. Aaaaah, so many decisions for a little hamster!

I haven't actually seen any of the Marchioro cages in the flesh but the Mickey 2XL is sturdy and well built. It would be good for a Syrian.

Eeek! That doesn't sound good ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif) I have a good friend who loves hers and as far as I know, no problems like that. I'll have to ask her where she got hers from.

Re: Different cages...same bar spacing???
I find the door on my Kevin slides from side to side but only a little, even pushed right to one side the gap isn't big enough for a dwarf to get through. It would be a shame if they're no longer as well made as they were when I got mine.

Re: Different cages...same bar spacing???
People who have them seem happy with them, so that must say something. A lot of cages have the odd area where the bar spacing isn't as small as the rest of the cage - sometimes round the door, sometimes along the top edges where they are soldered or whatever. I put cable ties along the top edges of the Mickey 2XL - the gap was still fine for a dwarf hamster, I was just mouseproofing it! If Cypher thinks any gap at the side of the door is ok for a dwarf hamster then it's probably fine as she has 3!

Re: Different cages...same bar spacing???
This one could've been poorly assembled, or used and bent...I'd go by the lots and lots of positive reviews from others! I wouldn't have bought the one I saw at this particular shop but I'm still considering it as an option from a reliable website! Good luck...let us know what cage you decide on and post some photos please! It will help me make up my own mind!

Re: Different cages...same bar spacing???
Enh98, I have the Goran with a syrian in it. He's quite happy. I pretty much don't use anything that came with the cage except for the large 4 1/2 inch diameter orange tube. It's 11 inches long, so I use it as a ramp. I ordered it from Dr's. Foster and Smith, and it came from the manufacturer, so it was in good shape. The only problem I saw was the front right of the cage was ever so slightly bent which I was easily able to straighten. The front door does not move from side to side. (I just tried it!). That was my experience. Buying it on Amazon is $40 more now.
