Me thinks my other half makes me out to be a fighter It's just not true
You can always put your name forward Matty and then it would come down to a vote from the members.

No BVMark you can't suggest that, you're just too good at it!!
Can I also make a valid point Bunsey that your map seems more varied but would make some shows still out of reach for people. There were people saying there were too many in Gloucestershire but there is only Shurdington and Gatcombe which is a display, and the only others really close then are Highworth which is Wiltshire, and Monmouth which is Monmouthshire. Bowood House is still a good 1.5 hour drive, Blenheim almost 2 hours and thereon. I think that you can't please everyone with shows, no matter where you hold them

I can't get the link to work Is it just me? I would love to be able to see where the nearest shows to me are so that I could pop along to have a look round *sigh*

I think that there is only 1 show (Highworth) that is within an hour for us (is Bowood a show or a display?).
The rest are all well over an hour, mostly 1 1/2 - 2 hours hours. We're lucky because I drive, otherwise we wouldn't go.
I think you just have to realise that if you want to attend shows, then it means quite a drive, an early start, a long day and then the drive home! But to us, it's worth it.
However, it's something that we both now love and I don't have an OH to worry about - we just please ourselves (there are some advantages to being single LOL)
We're even looking into attending a Northern show, if it's possible during the SHols, so that we can meet all of you north of Watford Ha Ha!!

You'd be made very welcome Mollz' Mum I'm sure, just as I've been made welcome at Midland shows

yeah, you've got to be prepared to drive. I think anyone who has one or two shows an hour away is lucky. A lot of people's nearest show would be much more than that, such as if you lived in north wales or east anglia. For me I've got 2 shows an hour away and about 4 other shows just over 2 hours away.
it is pants for anyone who can't drive though. The only thing you could do is host your own show but it appears that's not as easy said and done. I had no idea you had to get past AGM judge and jury to get a show.

If you seriously wanted to test the water in your local area you could have an hamster pet display/pet class - with HAMSOC/BHA you were able to organise a show and just invite one of their trained judges along and have a mini unofficial hamster show. You could then take the results - popularity/number attended etc to the next Northern AGM as evidence of the possibility of a viable show in your area.
