A couple questions before I go to the grocery store...

-Do they prefer red or green grapes usually?
-Would yogurt be a suitable food to try and mix the meds with?
-Any suggestions for baby food flavors?

As always, thanks.

You could try her on a flavoured live yogurt - somthing like peach might work.
They don't mind what type but get seedless.
Ours like the chicken and pasta or Country chicken and veg as well as maybe apple or baby rice pudding. We have also used the spagetti hoops in a tomato sauce. Heinz or Hipp have a variety of suitable ones.

Thanks so much for this info. Very helpful! I really appreciate it. And so will Miss Cheeto, I'm sure.

I'm so sorry to hear this.
I found out my Hamster had that on Friday. She didn't pull through, but that was because she'd always been a bit smaller, and ended up being severely underweight and dehydrated.
Cheeto seems like a strong hamster, and your vet sounds like he knows what he's doing, so I'm sure she'll pull through.
When I gave mine the meds, I would dip the end in some apple juice or just stab the syringe in an apple. She would smell it and nibble the end.
I'll pray for you and Cheeto! (She's beautiful!) xxx

So sorry about Cheeto. Hopefully the baby foods will encourage her to eat and have her meds! Let us know how she gets on, bless her she's so brave, and been through so much

Thanks for this idea. I'm thinking maybe I can dip the syringe in some yogurt to get her to nibble then I can more easily squirt the meds. They must taste awful!

I am sincerely so sorry that your girl didn't make it. It is so heartbreaking.

At least Cheeto doesn't seem to be suffering in any other way. She is still eating just fine and if anything is a little overweight so she doesn't appear sickly at all. Fingers crossed she stays that way.

Thanks very much. She has definitely been through a lot but I know she is a fighter. And so is her human!

Poor you and poor Cheeto. Sending her lots of get well vibes.

I have had a ham older than Cheeto spayed and she did well, but it is a very personal decision to be made in conjunction with your vet depending on how well you both think she would tolerate the procedure. I have used Galastop for a girl who, like Cheeto, was older and possibly spay-able but wouldn't have coped with it so my vet and I decided not to operate. I still wanted to fight so used double dose baytril plus galastop based on my vet's discussion with the vet who co-authored Hamsterlopaedia (bless my vet for hunting her down and ringing her up for advice!).
