Re: 30 days of June 2018
Your dogs are lovely! I hope the puppy does not need surgery but if she does it will be in her best interests and if it leads to a long and much more comfortable life it will be worth it for the few months rest. It's not easy to keep a puppy still for long!
My favourite movie is K9 because I love GSDs of course and Jerry Lee is so cute!

Re: 30 days of June 2018
I am so very sorry that Phoebe has a malformed kneecap. That must be incredibly painful and heartbreaking for such a lively, active puppy. I do hope that she will not have to need surgery. However, if it does require surgery to fix it, I hope that she will have a full and quick recovery so she can get back to having tons of fun playing with you and enjoying her time with Bella. I will be keeping my fingers crossed that little Phoebe's kneecap will heal without intensive surgery and that sweet Bella will beat her cancer. The picture with Bella and Phoebe getting ready to play fetch is really very sweet, and I'm so glad that Phoebe was willing to wait until it got a bit cooler. I haven't been enjoying the three-digit heat either, lol. That picture of Phoebe stealing the little purse is just too adorable and funny; she definitely is a silly pup and looks so "innocent" stealing things, lol. I'm sure she keeps you very entertained and on your toes looking for all of the things that she claims to be hers. I just love hearing about and seeing your two dogs; they really are very cute.
I remember reading your heartfelt tribute to your first ham Remington and the beautiful, touching bond that you shared with one another. I would love to know more about him and how he turned you into the wonderful, hamster lover that you are now as well as getting to know all of your other past hams.
I have never seen The Plague Dogs nor read the book; it sounds like another one of Richard Adams's incredibly heart-wrenching and thought-provoking stories so I probably would love it as I do love reading and watching Watership Down.
I absolutely love SO many movies (no great surprise there, I guess, lol), but here is a list of some of my top favorites. They are Watership Down, Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty, Disney's The Jungle Book 1994 version, Anna and the King, Life Is Beautiful, The Last Samurai, The Sound of Music 1965 version, The Phantom of the Opera 2004 version, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Re: 30 days of June 2018
Hello all! Sorry for my silence yesterday, I was ill Likely, I ate something bad. Luckily though, I am feeling much better today. Part of the problem may be my sleeping habits (as I'm writing this at 2 am lol)! Today I went to an awards ceremony, as I was nominated for an award as top runner in my state. I didn't win, but it was an honor to simply be nominated. It was touching to hear the stories of everyone's journey as athletes. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Other than going to the ceremony, and watching a movie with some friends, I also went for a bike ride. I took a photo of the local lake, which looked oddly glassy today. I've never seen it look like this before! I'm curious as to what may have caused it!

Today's QOTD: rain or snow?
I personally enjoy both equally. They each have equally good and bad qualities It all depends upon the season though!

Re: 30 days of June 2018
I'm so sorry to hear that you were ill yesterday, but I'm glad that you are doing much better today. Congrats on being nominated as one of the top runners in your state; although you didn't win, just being nominated is such a HUGE honor, and I'm so very happy for you. That is awesome, and you must be so excited!!!
The picture of the lake is absolutely stunning!!! It does have a glassy appearance, and the reflection in it is extremely beautiful. Seeing this must have made your bike ride even more enjoyable. Thanks for sharing.
Although I enjoy rain so long as it isn't pouring down, torrential rain, I most definitely prefer snow.

Re: 30 days of June 2018
Warning: This post contains images some people may find unsettling. If you do not like spiders, or insects in general; I do not recommend this post for you
Hello all! Sorry I haven't updated this super consistently. Been a whirlwind of a month. I have a new job, and it has drained almost all my energy. On a happier note, it's my birthday in two days! I'm excited for it as I'll be cooking my favorite soup (enough to last me several days as well!). I also remembered that I have a photobucket account that I used to post pictures here before the company decided they didn't allow third party sharing anymore I have all my old hamsters' photos in those albums, so I'll download some onto my laptop and resize them. I likely won't be able to share all my past hams, but I'll share as many as I can
Today I will be sharing more marshland critters. This time though, it is the less cute ones. I have a huge spider, a huge mosquito, and a surprise at the end My state is super hot and humid, making it a breeding ground for some weird insects. The most common ones are House Centipedes, Cockroaches, Crickets, Lightning bugs, and Cicadas. I don't recommend looking up pictures of the first two if you're squeamish!

a cute frog to hide the "scary" bugs
Webp.net-resizeimage (34).jpg
a huge spider. This gal was carrying a bunch of babies on her back as well! Many of them crawled on me whilst I was taking the photo
Webp.net-resizeimage (35).jpg
an unusually large mosquito. I found it biting me, but had to take a pic of it as it was so big compared to the typical mosquito size!
Today's QOTD: are you afraid of spiders?
I personally am not. In fact, I'd quite like to have a pet tarantula at some point

Re: 30 days of June 2018
Congrats on your new job, Drago; I am so excited for you! Although, I hope that it won't be as draining for you soon. Happy early birthday, too!!! I hope that it is all that you wish for it to be. I'm glad that you will be treating yourself to your favorite soup, too; it's you Dad's vegetable soup recipe, correct?
I look forward to hearing about and seeing as many of your beloved, past hams as you are able to share with us. That will be wonderful.
Great pics and adorable frog, but. . . EEeek!!! When I logged into HC and went to your post, the pics automatically were visible; therefore, I saw the spider and mosquito pics! I am so sorry, but those two most definitely made me cringe! I am absolutely afraid of spiders, mosquitoes, roaches, and centipedes. I think that if the spider's spiderlings crawled on me, I would have totally screamed, cried, and gotten terrible, reoccurring nightmares for months!!! I am so terrified of spiders that my hands totally start shaking uncontrollably whenever I see one. I felt so bad for fearing spiders that I cry at the passing of Charlotte every time I read Charlotte's Web; she is truly the only spider that I can honestly say I absolutely love and am unafraid of. Unfortunately for me, I am also highly allergic to spider bites and sometimes even have to be hospitalized when bitten. When one of my family members held a Chilean rose tarantula for a while and told me that it was quite cute and beautiful; I told her that she was extremely brave and I wish that I could feel the same way. However, regardless of how much I love Charlotte, I could never possibly even contemplate intentionally holding or having any type of spider as a pet.
I think that my answer for today's QOTD is totally obvious!

Re: 30 days of June 2018
Dreamtree- Thank you for the birthday wishes! I had a fairly lovely day. Went out to lunch with my mother, relaxed, and got to meet some puppies I did eat lots of soup tonight, and yes, it is my father's recipe Sorry the bugs spooked you! I'm especially sorry about the spiders Don't worry too much, I have a phobia of crickets! However, I find insects to be interesting, though it would appear my latest expedition has left me all bitten up!
Serendipity- Another frog fan? How are your tadpoles doing??
Today, I absolutely must share my trip to the park the other day. I caught lots of fish, got pics, and enjoyed nature. It would appear after the trip though, I have gotten either poison ivy, or some nasty bug bites! Other than being super itchy, I'm surviving them
I walked alongside a large lake to get as close to the fish as I could. I also found quite a few frogs and lizards out there. It was about 98 F (36ish C) so I tried to stay in the shade. It gets real hot out here in the summer!

a tiny frog. There were some much tinier, but this one was the only one who sat in my palm for the picture.

view of the park. It is filled with flowering trees this time of the year
Webp.net-resizeimage (38).jpg
sadly, this fish is dead. However, its coloration was so pretty, I had to get a picture. The iridescence makes it all the more lovely

an adorable blue-tailed skink
Today's QOTD: Coffee or tea?
I personally enjoy tea. Coffee is much too bitter for me!

Thanks for a great month Drago, it's been really interesting to see more of your world!
Apologies for not keeping up with posting often, it's just been one of those months somehow.
