Wouldnt that potentially be dangerous if they managed to chew it?

No Why. it is not toxic and it is no coarse. It is paper and it does not have glass on it like sand paper (which is glass paper)

I was thinking firstly you don't know what they've used to stick the rough bits to the paper and secondly I just doubt loads of teeny bits of whatever will be great if eaten is all
One of the reasons I like rocks - they're pretty much chewproof

I got a resin terrarium decoration thing today for Hector's cage. He needed something to stand on to reach his water bottle & as it's a stone texture should do the trick to keep his nails down. It also has a couple of dips on top which I've put a couple of sunflower seeds in. If you can't find any suitable rocks you could try something similar from the reptile section? If you use rocks, there are some videos on YouTube on how to sanitize them before you put them in the cage. Sorry if I'm repeating everybody else.

Yeah I think I might have a look in P@H (oh no another excuse to look at the hamsters... ) if I can't find any suitable rocks near me... Yeah tomorrow or Tuesday I'm going to go out scavenging for rocks for my hamsters lmao

I also use a reptile resin feeding dish under the water bottle. Also helps to catch any drips if there are any
