Default Can Wispa have any of these?

Wispa is a Winter White. I feel terrible giving my other two fruit for a treat but she never gets any. She is very fussy with vegetables too!
What am I looking for to tell me if she can or not?

Hello Jodzie,

As Wispa is a very pretty hybrid she can not have any fruit I'm afraid as she is diabetes prone.

The above treats I have looked at myself in Wilkinson's & I'm afraid they also contain sugar when I have read the ingredients on the packet's. Carrot's is a veg that should also not be fed because they have a high sugar content all be it natural it is still sugar.

Thanks Silver. Your awesome and so helpful =)
I haven't ever given her fruit as I know it's too high in sugar for her.
She is just so fussy! I think she is quite happy with millet spray once a week but I still feel mean! haha

Not Rice crispies. But puffed organic rice is good. This can be found in some supermarket's & health food shops.

The difference is Rice crispies have added sugar to them & the organic puffed rice is just that rice with nothing added.

I will admit I gave her some of these (like 3 every week) as I didn't realise they were bad!
I have been trying to find the puffed organic rice at tesco's but can't!

You can buy organic ricecakes at Morrisons and Sainsbury's for around £1-2, I can't remember the brand name, I think it's in a dark green packet. You can find it either in the 'organic' or 'free from...' 'wholefoods' isles. I think there is around 10 cakes in the packet and it's just plain puffed rice.

I prefer to feed `treats` from the hamsters own mix. If you remove sunflower and pumpkin seeds for example, these can then be fed by hand or placed around the cage for the hamster to find. If you buy hemp seeds and buckwheat (supermarkets and healthfood shops) these too can be used aswell as added to the regular mix.

My new roborovski now knows that if he climbs up onto his two shelves, there will be half a mealworm waiting for him or a sprouted mung bean or a tiny piece of apple. Walnuts are a good treat (but small 5mm pieces not a whole one!) and have health benefits aswell. Using natural nuts and seeds are the best treats and won`t be harmful. x
