I prefer to feed `treats` from the hamsters own mix. If you remove sunflower and pumpkin seeds for example, these can then be fed by hand or placed around the cage for the hamster to find.

If you buy hemp seeds and buckwheat (supermarkets and healthfood shops) these too can be used aswell as added to the regular mix.

My new roborovski now knows that if he climbs up onto his two shelves, there will be half a mealworm waiting for him or a sprouted mung bean or a tiny piece of apple. Walnuts are a good treat (but small 5mm pieces not a whole one!) and have health benefits aswell. Using natural nuts and seeds are the best treats and won`t be harmful. x
