Hi everyone, sorry for not replying sooner!!! I've had my hands full with introducing groups of mice and tiring out a puppy on top of getting back to work Thank you for the well wishes everyone

Anyway, Wednesday is here and has now been renamed to Flump. She was very friendly and timid on arrival but has been lunging and threatening to bite since settling in, but I think it's just her being defensive of her territory, especially in regards to her food bowl (which makes sense from what lifewithpets has said about her previous living conditions.) She is very wary of hands if she sees them, but will let me stroke her a few times if she has something really tasty to chomp on. I think it will just take time, and a bigger cage. With this being organised so quickly I only had a genus 300 cage available but I will soon be upgrading her to a varazze cage so that she has the space she needs She LOVES to run on the flying saucer, and make a nest - she's turned half of the cage into one big one :P

Onto the important part - piccies

(Oh, and RH, consider yourself thumped!! It was lovely of you to say but you made me blush )

Zany toon, so great seeing pics of Flump aka Wednesday.
She seems to have settled in, the biting will wear off once she realises that you're not a threat.
Why did you choose the name Flump?

Lifewithpets commented to me that she looked like a toasted marshmallow. I thought she looked like a marshmallow that is a bit rough around the edges and though of Flumps - which were marshmallow sweets with a sugar coating It made them look like rough marshmallows I thought it suited her as both her looks and her personality are a bit rough around the edges

She looks quite the little madame! So pleased that she eventually found the right home with you Roz. I can`t get over how much she looks like my Chubsters! Similar colouring and looks!

Good too that you discovered your password!!! x

Thanks for that - now when I see Flump, I'll think of those sweets.
I remember those, do they still do them?

Flump marshmallow sweets (I think) are still made but they may not have the same brand name. I see marshmallow logs and smaller ones in shops like Poundland/Poundstretcher sold in plastic jars. Whether they are the sugar coated flumps though I`m not sure! Those things are addictive! x

I never heard of Flumps but she does look like a toasted marshmallow. She's adorable and I'm so happy for her. Hopefully she will get over her trauma and trust the hand again. Thanks so much for posting the pics and giving her such a great home. xx

This is such a lovely happy ending story! Racing Hamster, you are a star for helping get this sorted, and Zany Toon you are a star for giving Flump a home, and Life With Pets you are a star for coming on here and looking for a home for Flump. Who looks absolutely adorable.

I hope your friend does keep her children away from the Syrian. We got Charlie for our 7 year old (he was 6 then) and even a 7 year old isn't up to handling a hamster very often and without supervision. Our little boy is good with Charlie but doesn't quite have the dexterity to handle him for too long, and he does lose interest regularly (hence Charlie is my baby really!)

Hamsters do seem to be seen as `evil` by people who get bitten and think it`s always the hamsters fault, especially children who don`t have either the understanding, nor the handling capabilities without an adult supervision. Flump has been lucky that LifeWithPets came on and made us aware of her plight. Roz is very experienced with mice and hamsters, so Flump is in good hands. x

I've just caught back up with this story and I am delighted at it's outcome. Well done LifeWithPets, RacingHamster and zany_toon for everything that you have done to make sure that Flump (Wednesday) has the ideal forever home.

Flump certainly does seem to suit her, zany_toon. The pictures are wonderful and it's so lovely knowing that this little fluff will have a wonderful life from now on.

Smiles and hammie hugs all round.
