A Hamster Called George

So, we went and collected George today, we found out he was born on Xmas eve.
His gotcha day is easy to remember it is today as it is my birthday..!

George hasn't really stopped since bringing him home his happy place at present is sitting in his wheel watching the world go by, he seems to be a climber and has had the consequences of gravity and has fallen off a few times, this has caused a few sharp intakes of breath as he has landed on his coconut etc , not much we can do about it, he has to learn.
He does like sitting in his food bowl too, not to eat but just to be a furball topping to his food.
Mrs R has already started with the " Don't do that George" qoutes....

Thank you, it was me who brought George, who has fully discovered the fun of running like a loon in a massive Hamster Wheel , then stopping suddenly and swinging in said wheel, I'm sure if we did that we would throw up massively.

As a side note. You don't need a professional camera, lense, tripod, lighting and background to take a snapshot. A phone camera does the job.

I happen to live with a photographer who gives me a dirty look when i mention a phone camera and looks like a boy scout carrying half his weight in a rucksack when he ventures upstairs to take a photo of a hamster.

Ria, This is so funny, as I'm also a photographer I have two ruck sacks as all my kit won't fit in one...! I write for a local magazine on photography too.....
I use my camera phone for Hammy pics though, my camera produces huge image file sizes so it is easier to resize the phone pics.

George Hammy Day +1

Came home about 07.00 from work, He had kicked almost all of the sand from his sand box it looked like a mini volcano !
George was under his wheel, he came out and mooched about sitting in his food bowl etc, gave him a piece of sugar snap pea and he devoured it with much relish, a few mins later all I could see of George was his Butt sticking up from the substrate by his wheel, then he vanished ....
When I got up this afternoon George was curled up in his sand box...!
I checked on him poor wee thing jumped up and dived into his tunnel I had put in for him, this is buried under the substrate.
I wonder what he will do next, apart from not using his nest box....

Maybe you should move George's food bowl in his nest box so he'll go in next time he's looking for a place to sit, lol.

Ahem, how long do we have to wait yet until we see another photo of the gorgeous George?

Don't know about finding his feet but he has found the roof of the cage and already is monkey barring across them....!
