Help! I stepped on my hamster
I let my baby play in my room because she is super hyper. I accidentally stepped on her. she screamed and I heard crunching noises. she's was running around for a while. she was completely stunned at first and she's is limping. I was able to hold her and feel around her ribs, legs, feet and head. she didn't seem bothered by it. i don't know if my anxiety makes me feel like her side is budging.. maybe its her just limping? she now just in a ball resting.. breathing a little heavy.. advice please!!!

Re: Help! I stepped on my hamster
You need to take her to the vets right away. You may have got off with it but she may have serious internal injuries and be in pain. I hope the vet can help.

Re: Help! I stepped on my hamster
Hi and welcome to HC! I am terribly sorry that your hamster was stepped on. As Souffle said, it is imperative that you take her to the vet immediately because she can be suffering and having serious internal injuries. Hams are very good at hiding their pain and injuries due to being prey animals so she may not realize the full extent of her injuries just by watching her. I hope that the vet is able to help her with any pain that she may be experiencing and find a way to have her fully recover as quickly as possible from this accident. I will be keeping you and your precious hammy in my prayers and hoping for the very best outcome for her. Please keep us updated on her condition if you have a chance. Huge hugs to you and get well cuddles to your ham.

Re: Help! I stepped on my hamster
Hi and welcome to HC!
Oh no! Like the other member said, take your ham to the vet right away! Like dreamtree said, hamsters are prey animals and hide their pain very well. I do hope all is going to be okay and please update us!
Did you say you were useing a ball? Hamster balls are very controversial, I dont think you should use them. Your ham has no access to hide if something scares them. Most hamster balls tend to be very small and curve their back which can lead to arthritis and other very painful long term back issues. They also dont give time with you our your ham to interact or bond. If*your ham needs some exercise, there are much safer options like a playpen, bathtub etc. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to ask! I’m sending huge hugs!

Hi and welcome to the forum. What a terrible thing to happen, hope everything goes ok at the vet which your hammy must see immediately. Got my fingers crossed.
