Re: Meet Heaven, my new Syrian
My guess actually wasn’t based on your user name CB! Cinnamon was just the closest guess I had, but I agree it isn’t quite right. Rust is quite rare, isn’t it? Special girl

Re: Meet Heaven, my new Syrian
She's a tough one! My first guess was satin cinn, but she has pretty dark ears for a cinnamon. I also think I see some brownish cheek flashes. However, rust is pretty rare. I'm going to guess satin rust, but you may wish to double check with someone more experienced. Posting in the thread AP linked may get some of the more experienced people to chime in

Re: Meet Heaven, my new Syrian
Ok thanks, AP & Drago I'll do that. She acts like a downtrodden hammy. The people before me did a number on her. She came with her cage which was pathetic plus they said they didn't have time for her.

That is so sad CB glad you have her now. Why people get pets which they are only going to mistreat... It makes me so angry.

Re: Meet Heaven, my new Syrian
Her previous owners who gave her to the SPCA said the only had her for 5 mo, who knows what happened to her before that?
It's so rewarding to give her a 2nd chance, seeing her run around in her ball, eating human food & watching her run in her wheel & move her nesting material to cover her food is so cute. I really love her, I don't know if I'll get another Syrian after her as she can't be replaced. I'd grieve for her, I know that.

Re: Meet Heaven, my new Syrian
Cinnmon Bear, thanks for sharing the gorgeous pics of Heaven with her blueberry treat. She looks so lovely as always, and LOL that her cheek pouches are filled to the max. She really is a "CHEEKY" gal, isn't she. I just love it!
I hope that you will be able to find out her coloring for certain soon. She truly is a stunning hammy. I'm sure that Drago's Learning how to identify Syrians colors" thread will do the trick. I love that thread. It is SO enjoyable to see everyone's hammies (past and present) all in one place and learn their true colors. I am learning so much, and couldn't be happier about it. I wish that I will one day be able to pick out hammies colors just as well.
I am so sorry that Heaven came from such a neglectful home, but luckily for the two of you that has tremendously changed. She couldn't be happier than having a wonderful home with you.

Re: Meet Heaven, my new Syrian
Ugh “only” 5 months. That can be 1/3 to 1/4 of a hamster’s life - such a long time to be ignored! Poor baby. Sounds as though she couldn’t have found a better forever home. You should be really proud just enjoy her and don’t worry about losing her - I know I’m overly prone to that with my pets too.

Re: Meet Heaven, my new Syrian
Thank you dreamtree, she is happy here, I don't see any negative signs anyways. She seems content and happy in her home and a friendly hamster. She was friendly when I adopted her. That's what motivated me to get her was that everyone said how friendly she was. I threw out her cage and bedding ASAP. And gave her a decent size cage. Maybe not compared to some cages I see but she's happy.
She just acts like an abused hamster, can't explain it, other than she's jumpy in a way that she can't help.
