Re: I've adopted a rescue hamster!
Thanks Cypher. Just read it. I had thought getting bigger like that was just something that happened naturally as they grew ... Now I'm wondering if one or two of my females may have had it ... It sounds scary! How easy is it to spot?

Re: I've adopted a rescue hamster!
I thought I'd post here I'm not getting any help on my thread.
The little girl was still asleep when I got in from work at 6pm, when she eventually moved I found diarrhea on her bedding . Shes had some toast and a drink of water which I held for her. She's back to sleep now and hasnt been on her wheel or anything. Her bum area seems dry and she looks well but I'm worried these are early problems to something bigger. I've put her bottle and muesli mix next to where she's sleeping and cleaned her bed.
I'm absolutely devastated. She seemed to be settling really well

Re: I've adopted a rescue hamster!
Hi. I posted on your other thread just now. I know you're worried. Obviously we can't see how she is, but she maybe is just settling in after all the excitement and catching up on some sleep, and the changes have upset her tummy a bit. I think a few people have suggested things on your other thread now If you think she seems unwell though, maybe try and get a vet appointment for as soon as you can.
I know when we first got Charlie I was quite worried after the first week as he seemed to just sleep all the time and seemed a bit lethargic. And he also had a bit of loose poo after we upgraded his cage, and he was very shaky too for a week. He even got very slight diarrhoea when his wheel changed. So fingers crossed it is something not serious and just her adapting.
