Re: Hubble's thread
I so love the photo of Hubble in the mug, so cute that he's taken to nesting in the mug. I found with mine when they were younger that they would set up nest in the smallest toy. Maybe it makes them feel secure.
I talk to mine all the time, they love it.

Re: Hubble's thread
He probably thinks it just fell from the sky lol! Charlie thinks food magically appears on his kabob - he was quite frazzled when he got up before I put it out once and then SAW me put it there! I'm now careful to put it out before he wakes up

Re: Hubble's thread
He didn't see me put it in there, but he caught me with the cage door open, so I'm sure he has his suspicions.

Re: Hubble's thread
I just about had a heart attack. I'm sitting here on my laptop and Hubble started crying/screeching from his nest, and I ran to see what was wrong. But, it looks like he was just sleeping? He seems perfectly fine now.

Re: Hubble's thread
Ha! Spike did that before when he was a very young ham. The first time I came racing through from the other room excepting to see that something horrible had happened. Nope. Just Spikey having a bad dream. Didn't even wake up when I lifted up the house to check on him ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif) . He grew out of making noises in his sleep after awhile so doesn't do it anymore. Does give you a bit of a heart attack though!

Re: Hubble's thread
I had no idea they did that. So scary. I ran over and pushed aside his bedding, all frantic, and he just opened his eyes and looked up at me like, "Oh, it's you again. Why are you waking me up?" Phew.

Re: Hubble's thread
I've never heard a syrian do it but I guess it's probably a fair bit louder than my little ones so it could be a bit alarming! I've only had one russian out of 4 that doesn't do that & his silent sleeping scared me at first lol!

Re: Hubble's thread
Major setback tonight, and things were going so well. Hubble woke up and came over to the door all happy as can be, begging for some attention. I gave him a seed, and I've never seen him so excited. Honestly, it was so lovely that it was making me laugh. He happily start trying to climb out of the cage and took another seed from me, so I held out the ball for him. He climbed inside, and I took him to have a bathtub taming session.
Everything started out well. He climbed on me and walked onto my hands for the first time. And then suddenly everything went really wrong, and I have no idea why. He pouched all of the seeds I had set out for him, ran into the corner and hid. I tried to coax him into his ball to go back to his cage, but he wouldn't move. He seemed terrified. I waited quietly for several moments, but he refused to move until I got out of the bathtub.
When I finally got him back into his cage, he ran and hid and has been sitting in the corner looking tramautized for about half an hour. So, yeah. I'm fairly upset. I was so excited that he'd finally gotten up the trust and courage to run up to the cage door to ask for attention, he's seemed like such a happy and active hamster these past few days, and I have a feeling this has kind of destroyed that. I don't even know why, but I don't think I want to do the bathtub method anymore.

Re: Hubble's thread
It's okay Jen, it doesn't sound major at all. He probably just got a bit over excited and freaked himself out, nobody screamed, nobody was bitten, nobody fell off anything and everyone is in one piece so it can't be that bad ![](https://www.hamstercentral.com/community/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif) maybe leave him in peace and quiet for a bit and go and check on him later, have something tasty for him and see will he come and take it. Even if he doesn't that's okay, see how he is tomorrow.
It sounds like BOTH of you are freaked so take a minute to make sure you're calm as well as Hubble. It's completely normal to worry about worrying him but little setbacks are always going to happen, it's slow and steady and consistent progress over days and weeks and months thats important. Ahh I feel like I want to hug both of you!
