Re: Dying hamster 😔
She's close now, she's not even gasping anymore she's not conscious and her breathing is very slow. I know she doesn't know I'm here but Ibe got her wrapped up laid on my chest. So very sad..

Re: Dying hamster 😔
It's ok kaylah, she doesn't need to know consciously that you're there. It's enough for her right now to feel safe and secure and in your arms she does. Keep speaking to her, even people in a coma can hear and the familiar sound of your voice will be further reassurance. (hugs)

Re: Dying hamster 😔
Yeah I've been talking to her also, just incase. She's back to gasping again now...I feel bad that I may have to put her back in her cage soon as I have to sleep and the thought of her in there alone is horrible. Also..has anyone else's hamster displayed odd behaviours when in the final stages? Every now and again she will stop gasping and start moving her arms like she's burrowing almost then go back ththe gasping again. X

Re: Dying hamster 😔
Have you got her wrapped loosely in something soft in her cage? She may feel exposed and be instinctively trying to bury herself deeper for protection.

Re: Dying hamster 😔
Thank you she's laid on my chest under a duvet because she's cold so I'm not sure what that behaviour is about :S x

Re: Dying hamster 😔
Update, biscuit has now passed over. I'm glad she's at peace now. She relieved herself then stretched out her arms before her last breath it sounds sad but it's lke she was reaching out to me one last time in her own way. She was a truly loved hammy and she will always be special because she's my first. Hopefully I will get another when I'm hurting less. Thanks all for guiding me through this week. I'm really grateful others have been there to understand x

Re: Dying hamster 😔
So sorry to hear about Biscuit, I'm so glad you were there with her right till the end, Biscuit would've been glad also. I shed a few tears, it's been a rough few days for you and I know losing your hamster is heartbreaking, it's always worse when it's your first. Biscuit was a well and truly loved hammie and you'll have good days and bad days but please remember that you gave her a wonderful life and that bond you both shared can never be broken. The memories you have will be with you always.
Thinking of you and sending you hugs xx
RIP Biscuit who has gone over the rainbow to the bridge xx
