Default color help?

I don\t really know much about Syrians in regards to colors and genetics. I contacted a breeder to see what she had and this was her reply.. if someone could post links or pictures of each color so I know what they are that would be great.. I tried google but it brought up a lot of different things :P

Reply: Golden/Golden Banded
Cream/Cream Banded
PEW long hair
Roan short hair

I know PEW is pink eyed white.. but beyond that I only really know sable and cinnamon, the other basics available in my city.. thanks in advance.

I thought roan was a ssolid color with white throughout, or another color ... It's a coat pattern not a color right? or are syrians different?

Yeah that's right.

With the banded ones it's just the normal colour with a white band around the middle so if you search for golden or cream you'll get an idea. Or look here: Syrian

Roan hamsters have a white bum and then the white hairs fade up towards the head which will be the named colour. E.g. a sable roan has a sable coloured head, sable and white body and a white bum: Syrian Hamster Varieties - Harvey Hams

Thank you for the help.. now I have to decide.. They're all so cute, but I want something different. I already have a sable boy, a sable girl, a sable banded boy, and a banded cinnamon girl, a banded cinnamon boy. I think will be our last addition for a while

I thought roan was described as a white hamster with varying amounts of colour ticking?Thats why all roans carry the White belly Gene, and so should only be mated with a solid colour hamster?

I love sable roans. And just sable in general, especially when they're long haired. :3
