Default Building up my Syrians

Hi Everyone

as you have probably already noticed, my two new Syrian babies are a little on the scrawny side and need building up.

I am currently rearing 4 baby sparrows and have been since Thursday last week (yes, they were with me at Blenheim hence me disappearing every few hours )

When we first got them they hardly had any feathers and my husband bought them back from a job he was doing (he does roofing and fascias) but now they are nearly fully feathered and flying over to me begging me to feed them!! - They are absolutely adorable, but so noisy! - so glad they sleep through the night

Anyway, getting to the point i have been feeding them crushed dog biscuits, crushed Bonio calcium puppy bones (which i give to the hamsters) and a boiled egg chopped up into tiny pieces (very tedious ) then all mixed with warm water to form a paste.

Apparently it is full of protein and the birds are doing wonderful on it!

So, i was just wandering if i could feed this paste to my two new Syian babies to build them up a little?

If so, then how much should i give them?

Thanks,

Tammy x

Sounds good to me. I would give them a teaspoon probably a couple of times a week, maybe 3 times.

Good job with the baby sparrows, its not at all easy to rear baby birds, you obviously have a gift.

Thanks Basia,

that sounds great, hope it works

I was so worried when i first read up about baby birds, everyone said they would not make it, so i tried to find out everything i could about the best thing to feed them, i am so glad that they seem to be doing ok - i might post some pics soon.

Thanks again,

Tammy x
