Re: A syrians boys bit
Milos bits have been even more notieable recently with this hot weather. I agree...no way a boy could be mistaken for a girl x

You say that, but last time I was in P@H there was a Syrian in the adoption centre called Princess who really did not suit that name if you know what I mean

Re: A syrians boys bit
I got a syrian from p&h adoption, he was called Bruce and they obviously thought he was male, a fully grown adult and semi longhaired, the longer fur must have confused them lol!
SHE is actually female, i've had her for around a year now and she's definitely female

Re: A syrians boys bit
We have 2 female hamsters and I find they have a stronger scent than the male we use to have (few years back). I never smelt anything on him. I'm not sure why, but was wondering if it's because females go into heat every 4 days? Yeah most grown boys are pretty big, although our last male (few years back) was not.

Re: A syrians boys bit
My little boy's bits are quite large too. They extend almost up to an inch past his tail sometimes. They do have an ability to pull them up, if they want to. So, sometimes his bits are much more noticeable than other times.

Re: A syrians boys bit
No apologies needed, we know what you mean lol.
On most males they are quite noticeable, but you can get the odd one where you have to look more closely. But on a young male hamster the testes may not have descended and may not be as obvious.
There is not a lot of difference in owning a female or a male hamster in relation to the temperament of the animal if they are from the same litter, whether it be good or bad. Although males in general, seem more laid back and easier going than the females. Female have that get up and go attitude and always to be on the move, not as lazy as the boys, but do tend to have more of a stronger scent particularly more so when they come into heat.
