Dwarf hamster home
Hello guys.
I'm new to owning hamsters and i received a lovely dwarf campbell the other day. She is currently in a plastic cage that's just too small for her and i was wondering if this cage is suitable? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I was mainly worried about her falling so i bought a hammock and other things, is this cage safe for a dwarf hamster?

Re: Dwarf hamster home
Hello and welcome to HC
I would say that cage is too high for a dwarf hamster. They're not very good at getting down if they climb so tend to just throw themselves off which would be dangerous for a little ham
Little friends also do the grosvenor cage which is a much better height for a dwarf, you can find it on amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Little-Frie...grosvenor+cage. I have the cage myself and I really like it (3 of my dwarfs have one each)
Another nice cage is the Hamster heaver https://www.amazon.co.uk/Savic-Hamst...hamster+heaven, if you prefer a front opening door (take the tubes out though as they're not really suitable, I use the tubes in the playpen)
You could also have a look on zooplus as they have some nice cages there too.

Re: Dwarf hamster home
Hi & welcome.
As BP said that cage is definitely too tall for a Russian hamster, they are very good at climbing up bars but have no idea how to get down so they just tend to let go & fall so you do have to be careful with both cage height & how you set things up.
I would have a look at the cages BP mentioned s they're far more suitable.

Re: Dwarf hamster home
Welcome. The cage you mentioned is too tall for a dwarf hamster.
Zoo plus website have some good cages. The Alaska, Barney or Alexander are highly recommended.
There are also tanks/tank style cages if you prefer a cage with no/less bars.
DIY cages are good too. Ikea furniture hacks look nice.
