One of the Dynamic Duo, Toothless
After my OH and I adopted Sheldon (RIP) two years ago, we saw an ad for a woman giving away dwarf hamsters as snake food! The girl had gotten overrun by more than 60 hamsters as she wasn't bothering to sex them. I was terrified at the thought of this, so Mike and I decided to bring a pair home (I was told by everyone I spoke to at the time that a pair was necessary). I also wasn't expecting them to live horribly long due to the horrendous amounts of inbreeding, but I just wanted to do something. So we got our munchkins Toothless and Hiccup.
Hiccup just passed away this July, and lived a solid 20 months, but his brother Toothless is still kickin'.
He has sadly really started aging since his brother passed away, but he is still incredibly active, eats like a pig and comes out to say hi, so every day he does this makes me grateful. His tenacity is admirable, and I don't think I've met a more persistent hamster. Love you, baby
coming out to get put back in his habitat today after a thorough cleaning :3 love my old man
