hamster basics
ok so i know the minimum cage size for a hamster went up and i was curious on exactly what it is and like other basics hamster owners should know because whenever i see people that house hamsters in a cage that is way too small i want to at least inform them of the proper cage size but without actually knowing im afraid i will just sound dumb and pretentious which i dont want to happen so i was wondering if anyone can inform me please, and thank you

Re: hamster basics
The best way to cure ignorance is to show people options and show them proof of why large cages are important and why they aren't actually too expensive and all that.Just take time to slowly educate people, and they most often will come around!I've transformed my own mother for example from thinking a tiny cage was fine to knowing the truth that a large cage is extremely necessary in all cases.
On another level though, make sure you yourself are always educated on cage sizes and the price ranges of those cages and DIY options and just learn about hamster care throughout the world and Germany in particular.

Re: hamster basics
yea that is great, i also taught my mom the importance of a large cage for hamsters and with the help of this forum i have learned so much, it hurts me to see photos or videos of hamsters who live all their lives in tiny cages with wheels that are completely unsuitable. So i just like to make sure others are aware mentioning this forum but hate to sound as if its their fault or to sound mean, i just want others to be more aware

Re: hamster basics
Yes definitely Mention that pet shops are often wrong about animal care and that it isn't necessarily their fault if their care is wrong in some way, since that does tend to help a lot.Just being helpful and kind about it is the best way to do things in general!
