Default My rattie thread

I am a part of a rat forum and I would post all this stuff on there, but no one replies or looks at my posts so its really a waste of my time (i've given up on that forum now haha) so I figured i'd just make them a thread here! I've been meaning to do so for a while, you guys all seemed to like them in my last post featuring them so why not make their own thread?!

IT WILL BE LONG AND I DO APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE

I have 8 girlies and they all live together in a Savic Royal Suite cage and they absolutely love it.
Here is their cage (its huge, its taller than me... and a whole lot wider!)

Unfortunately picture quality isn't brilliant as I took it on my phone in the evening. This isn't their newest setup but its the newest up to date photo of how their cage has been looking!
At the moment their cage is kinda bear as all their hammocks are pretty much ruined now and I am yet to find a cheap, good quality hammock maker that ships to the UK!

Past rats:

Roxi (16th February 2013-31st January 2015)
Roxi was my heart rat and one of my very first rats. I got her from PetsatHome with her sister, Rosie. She was the best rattie I could have ever asked for and she was my everything. I was devestated when she passed away and I still miss her everyday. I had her for very very nearly 2 years and she was such a loving little girl. She is the reason I am now rat mad and I can honestly say she is the best pet I have ever had (tearing up now...) She knew her name and came when called. She would stand on her hind legs when asked to, spin when asked to and everytime I went over to the cage she would run over to greet me. Even in her final days when she was so so weak, she still made the effort to come and see me which broke my heart. The fact that she was so very old and weak, yet she managed to pull herself out of her nest to come and see me for fuss and attention just showed me just how much she had bonded to me... (I have to stop now or i'll cry)
Here are some photos of her:

Rhona (14th December 2013-September 2014)
I got Rhona when she was 8 months old to bond with Roxi and Rosie-and oh boy was it difficult! She was a lone rat before she came home with me and was clearly used to being on her own! She was always a temperamental girl and was boss out of the 3 of them all. But eventually we did bond her to Roxi and Rosie and they all lived together happily. A few scuffles now and again, but for the most part they all got along well. She never bit me, but did bite my dad, sisters carer and my uncle! I never fully trusted her, she clearly hadn't had a lot of handling by her previous owner as she was so hard to hold-so quick! But by the end she was a settled happy rat. When she was about 1 and a half she developed a tumor which was slowly growing and getting bigger and bigger. Operating would have been risky so my vet suggested leaving it and bringing her back in when it got too large for her to cope with. She coped very well and lived with it for about 3 months before I made the decision to put her to sleep. (It was starting to drag on the floor of her cage (getting all red and sore) and was restricting movement in her front leg. She wasn't in any pain when she went and passed away peacefully.

This photo was taken a few days after I bought her home. You can see how dark she is here compared to the other photos! Her colour is known as roan and it fades over time as they get older.
