I know you, Kyrillion, you're the Mouse Lady!
I'm thinking mice are small and fast but not as 'hyper' as gerbils, but I could be very wrong. Personality will play a big role. I do have images in mind of gerbils LEAPING out of my hand and bouncing around the room...
Are mouse, in their own hyper way, less skittish? or more so? The fact they will often stay on a table or the like is good....no fall down go boom the second I turn my back....
I'm also thinking about that the option of getting a pair of mice, female, or same litter male, is much higher than what I have seen in gerbils. I saw one gerbil. They may have hundreds this week, but I saw one.....not a choice then, since they are as social as mice. It's better to forever home a single gerbil of course than a pet store life....
As far as cleaning and care, gerbils seem to have the lead.
I tend to lean towards mice, but I want to give gerbils a fair shake as pets too....which is why I posted. Of course, if there is a hammy with my name on it, I'll know
It's really one of those half dozen of one, six of the other in my mind...sigh
