Re: The Goddess Mice
I didn't even know it was safe to neuter mice...? I've had mice for a while and never considered neutering since mine are breeders, but they're so small!
Gorgeous mice, I'm drooling!

Re: The Goddess Mice
Neutered boys can still be a little amorous with the girls (which is why I didn't put any in with the original goddess group as Venus wouldn't have stood for that sort of thing!). Other than that they seem to settle quite well from seeing my friends' groups. These are my first neutered boys and it'll be nice to have some more calm mice in my slightly bouncy group.
Colby, boys do have to be quite big before they can be neutered. My Basil-mouse was never neutered as he is fine by himself and also isn't robust enough to go under anaesthetic. It's good to have an experienced vet, and of course isn't cheap. It's good for boys who fall out in groups but pine when kept alone.

Re: The Goddess Mice
Vulcan and Pales completed their quarantine period and moved in with the Goddesses today. Vulcan has a little patch of fur loss where I medicated him with baytril for chestiness, but it'll regrow soon. The girls love their lads

Re: The Goddess Mice
Unfortunately the little boy mouse who was waiting to be neutered is not growing enough and isn't likely ever to be large enough to go under anaesthetic successfully. He won't be joining my little mouse herd (obviously!).
However...
I went on a little road trip yesterday with a friend who runs a rescue. A little mouse needed collecting as the owners were moving imminently. Well, there just happens to be a space in my mouse herd, so ....

This is Flora, named for the Roman goddess of Spring and flowers. She's in quarantine for several weeks, but then will join the Goddesses. She's in good condition although has a wee nick to her ear after an encounter with a cat. I love the little blaze on her head and her brown splodge.

Re: The Goddess Mice
They are so gorgeous! I've wondered what it's like to own mice. Are they more people oriented than Syrians? I am told my Chinese hamster is more like a mouse. I hardly see him though, as he is so skittish.

Re: The Goddess Mice
Okay...I know I have hamsters on the brain now, for sure! That splodge looks just like a hamster, sitting facing away from me. Flora is beautiful.
