Re: House hunting again
I'm glad you're having a break from it, like Ruby said, it's the most stressful thing to do.
I hope you're being kind to yourself. You deserve good things!

Re: House hunting again
Thank you TL that is very kind. I'm just doing normal things this week. I was about to implode!

Re: House hunting again
Ok I think I have got my head together again and really need to chill for a bit. I've spoken to the Landlord and said something else has fallen through. He was fine and said he wants to know we are sorted before we move and so the pressure is off a bit. But he is still wanting to start renovating the house, so it's not an open-ended 'stay on a bit' and he did say at some point he would need to start and we might not like the upheaval of building work going on. So will have to try and pin him down to a framework one day this week.
I seem to have gone from 3 house options to no house options lol. The one that fell through, the 'bargain' house lady needed a decision last week and didn't want to mess her about so had to say - sorry can't decide right now, so it's off. The 70s terrace is also off.
Little boy is here for 5 days so hopefully we'll do some fun things. I didn't realise how stressed I was until last week when just normal things like doing the cleaning became a bit of a joy! So I'm recharging in the familiarity of our current place before doing anything else. May still go back to one of them if it is still on the market but not just yet.

Re: House hunting again
Thanks! I'm still feeling a bit emotional now and then, it's been such a rollercoaster and still haven't got to the end. Fingers crossed things go better next time.

Re: House hunting again
It's perfectly fine to feel a bit emotional about the house hunting, buying and moving house is one of the most stressful things you'll ever do. So take a deep breath and make sure your OH gets more involved.
Is this work your landlord wants to start important? Surely he can hold off. If he has any sense he'll realise that house hunting is very stressful and he needs to give you notice if he wants to do work in your home while you're still living there!
But, it's the weekend and I want you to enjoy your time with your family and that's an order lol!

Thank you Thin Lizzy! You are so kind! I do tend to end up dealing with too much - he has never bought a house before, can you believe it?! But I reckon it's time he learned.

I'm gobsmacked!
Well that explains how he's been too laid back. If he had been doing all the things you'd been doing over several months he'd be well and truly stressed to the eyeballs.
I remember when I was flat hunting and a colleague said It's the most stressful thing you'll ever do, I laughed. She was so right!

Re: House hunting again
It is and on top of that we had a whole bundle of stress from other quarters as well! Other half was born on a farm and he and his brother inherited the little cottage they grew up in when their Dad died. It's a bit of a hovel lol! Quite small - his brother lives in it. So no he hasn't a clue why it is stressful - I think he's getting the picture now and I have said that I want him to deal with estate agents in future - I don't seem to be very good at it (I never have been!).
We've had some fun today and bought some red noses in the charity shop and are going to the cinema tomorrow afternoon.

Re: House hunting again
Yes let him deal with the estate agents from now on! I do think that estate agents can be quite arrogant when dealing with the opposite sex, like trying to push you into offering more. They can be intimidating!
After all, they only care about their commission.
I think your OH will realise quickly how stressful this whole home move can be,
Glad to hear you had fun. What are you planning to set at the cinema today?
