Allergic to hamsters - a few questions
It seems I may be allergic to my hamster marmaduke. Every time I handle him my skin starts to itch, I sneeze and my eyes water and itch. I used to put it down to the a Aubiose as my reaction would be a lot worse when cleaning out his cage, I would start to wheeze around 3 hours after cleaning him.
So either I am allergic to marmaduke or allergens from the aubiose are latched onto him which effects me when I handle him.
I have had hamsters in the past but I have only noticed this reaction with marmaduke. But marmaduke is the only hamster I have used aubiose with?
Is it possible to only be allergic to syrian hamsters and be fine with dwarfs and Chinese?
Would it be worth changing substrate?

Re: Allergic to hamsters - a few questions
I'd definetly change substrate and go from there, I have heard of people being allergic to just one species but hopefully its just the aubiose rather than the hamster

Thanks
It looks like it may be worth a try it's just annoying that I have 3/4 of a bale of aubiose left!
