The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Who here has seen this movie? I feel that it was well worth the money to see it in 3D. It was just so breathtakingly beautiful. I loved the part where they managed to squeeze in Frodo for a minute. I almost squealed with delight. Then I had to remember that I was in a theater with other people so I didn't.
Anyways, what did you think about this cinematic masterpiece? I am definitely going to see the next installment!!

Re: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
I thought it was not quite as good as the Lord of the Rings. It was weird, I left the theatre feeling slightly disappointed, even though it was a fantastic movie, well worth seeing. It was just... not quite as good.
I'll still be watching the next instalments, though

Re: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Yeah, its not the same as it involves different characters and while it does have some of the same as the LotR trilogy had, it takes place before hand so its not the epic battle of good and evil that the LotR is.

Re: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
I love the entire series (Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogy)! They picked the most breathtaking places to film these movies. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to see it in 2D (after seeing it in 3D)...absolutely amazing

Re: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
I saw it in 2d. I love the books and have re-read them so many times growing up. I also loved the trilogy films. While I liked the first installment of the hobbit, I found myself a bit bored at some of the scenes that were thrown in to impart various background info. The scenery and was stunning and most of the great scenes were "great" for lack of a better word but everything was interupted by so many slow scenes. And Im not usually someones who has a problem sitting through a 3 hr film. But yes I will see the next 2 installments!

Re: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Love it!! For some reasons, I didnt watch LOTR when it was on cinema, but then I saw the Hobbit, and now.....I've been watching LOTR trilogy. I've been watching the extended version of LOTR (on my way on the third one) and to be honest, some scenes do make me bored, I still like it though. But I guess I shouldn't watch the extended version -_- Well, my cousin watched both the extended version and the original one and didn't feel any different. Maybe it's just me..

Re: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Loved it! went to see it 3 times but then I am a bit biased, I was actually at the premier of the movie in New Zealand, screaming on the side of the red carpet with all the other crazy geeky people. It was amazing.
I enjoyed it in both 3d and 2d and cant wait for the next one

Re: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
I watched it yesterday in 3d and although good, I didn't feel it was very true to the book. The 3d was pretty aweshum though!

Oh, I know I devoured the books as a kid, I have even read the Silmarillion It wasn't the plot that I had the issues with, just that somehow it wasn't quite the cinematic spectacle I, well, expected. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely epic, just not quite as epic as LotR, and my expectations were not quite met. If I hadn't have had any expectations, I would have enjoyed it a lot more.
HorseyMandz, in general I think the parts where it wasn't quite true to the book were good, but the whole bit with Radagast was very much a wtf moment. I read the book again after watching the film and the book felt very rushed, there are so many places where it could be enhanced where it just isn't, where the film actually was. In general, apart from the Radagast bit, I think the film was better than the book Then again, the book was very much a kids book, whereas LotR and the films are definitely aimed more at adults.
