I second this! Its a great series.
I have to go look at my bookshelf...
When I was younger i used to read Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Haven't read them in a while....
The Inheritance Cycle is great too! (Eragon, Eldest, Brisinger, and Inheritance)
If you haven't read the Shiloh series I recommend that too. (If you haven't heard of it, its about a boy and a beagle he finds :3 )
Puddlejumpers is an okay book.

Fantastic suggestions! I would suggest those as well!
Some other books I liked...
Tithe by Holly Black
--- followed by Valient and Ironside as well. I loved them all!
Blue is for Nightmares by Laurie Stolarz
--- followed by White is for Magic, Silver is for Secrets, and Red is for Remembrance
Can't Get There from Here by Todd Strasser
The Sight by David Clement-Davis
--- followed by Fell
Dragon's Milk by Susan Fletcher
The entire Pendragon series by D. J. MacHale was awesome.
There was one other series of amazing books I read but I can't quite remember the name so I'll have to get back to you!

Re: Recomended Books
When God was a Rabbit is an enjoyable read, I also enjoyed the shopaholic books as they were a quick read and super funny, and Im not a girly person but found them amusing..

Erm... Tithe/ Valiant/ Ironside by Holly Black. (Also White Cat and Red Glove.) The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan (a trilogy that I greatly prefer the first book of to the other two). The Adamantine Palace/ The King of the Crags by Steven Deas. Ship of Magic/ Mad Ship/ Ship of Destiny by Robin Hobb (also Dragon Keeper/ Dragon Haven, but they're set afterwards).
My main recs when asked this question are definitely adult books, but I'll mention them anyway. Just, if you're not mature or don't want to read graphic stuff, ignore the next little bit The Clan of the Cave Bear/ The Valley of Horses/ The Mammoth Hunters by Jean M. Auel (also The Plains of Passage and The Shelters of Stone are good too, but whatever you do, do not read The Land of Painted Caves, it is the worst ending to a series ever). And my all time favourite two books, Kushiel's Dart/ Kushiel's Chosen by Jacqueline Carey. But in all seriousness, don't read them unless you feel you are a mature 14-year-old, because. Erm. ?

Re: Recomended Books
I loved Lemony Snicket too (even if they did come out while I was in my 20s didn't stop my enjoyment!). A classic I recently rediscovered is The Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper. I can't believe no-one's mentioned Terry Pratchett yet! I'm not that keen on the first two, Colour of Magic or Light Fantastic, but the others are fab. They don't really need to be read in any order, and you get more each time you re-read (not to mention a real giggle. Monstrous Regiment had me laughing out loud - not good as I was reading out loud to a nervy rescue ham to get her used to me!).
Kissa, I love Jean Auel's books (except for the last one). I picked up one while I was at my Grandma's when I was 12 and yes, I'd agree they are for older teens I also love J D Robb's In Death series (futuristic police crime series), but there again not for younger members.
I've read the PC and Kristin Cast House of Night series (about vampires, or 'vampyres' as they call them). I'm not that keen, and also there are some risque bits in them, in between the irritating bits
In a slightly different genre, I was (and still am) a fan of Jane Austen, especially Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion. I also enjoyed Dracula, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Jane Eyre. When I was younger, I loved The Little White Horse, A Little Princess, and the Silver Brumby series.
Now I'll have to go and get all of these back off my bookshelves! See you in a few months.

Re: Recomended Books
Just had another couple of thoughts today, Steph. Not sure if it's still in print, but I really loved 'Killing Mr Griffin' by Lois Duncan when I was in my teens.
I'd also recommend Umberto Eco's 'The Name of the Rose' and, if you get on with that, progress to his 'Foucault's Pendulum' - so much better than 'The da Vinci Code'.
I like the Clan of the Cave Bear series too.
