I just pick up a good book, play a video game, and either play with my dogs or hams. I just got a roborovski pair to deal with me and my ex's break-up. It was mutual but I thought it was a good excuse to get some more hammys!!

I used to do re-enactment... That was awesome for de-stressing!
We had training twice a week but I could usually only go once, and it was fantastic. Spending hours on end hitting people with sticks (wooden swords as we didn't have the council/forestry/police permissions for steel weaponry at the time). Yeah you got bruised and stuff but seriously, hitting other people for hours is amazing stress relief

Walking was also awesome for me, but now I can't do that because of an annoying injury that traps me indoors

At the moment I tend to just get away from it all by reading a book or using the forums or whatever else I can do to enjoy my free time without upsetting my silly injury really. I also enjoy cuddling up with my OH and watching DVDs together - thats fantastic for de-stressing too
(At the moment we make sure we watch at least one episode of our current DVDs together before sleep and its really good for relaxing.)

My mind never rests, I wake up regularly at 5am or earlier each day, I always have a "to do" list as long as my arm. I never give myself enough breaks and my time management is dire in that at weekends I can spend 15 hours solid sewing stock for Fuzzbutt, with only breaks for food and the loo Sometimes I can feel it all piling on top of me and I know my head will burst if I don't chillax....the thing that works for me is to get in a hot bath and submerge your head so your ears are underwater, then close your eyes and listen to your heartbeat......works like a charm, must be the whole "pretend you're back in the womb" thing

Other things that help is to find a nice forest or public garden first thing in the morning before anyone else is there, and go prowling with my camera.

De-stress, what's that? :L
I can't remember the last time I properly relaxed... it was probably Valentines Day when Mr Bobtail took me shopping and on a picnic, I didn't have to worry about work, money, getting home for any reason... but then I lost my wallet with all my bank cards etc. in on the bus home and that was the end of that.
So on the rare occasion where I do get to de-stress, providing that I have the money I like to go clothes shopping My clay craft can also be a good outlet if I'm skint but I cant really relax unless I am away from the house. :/

Thank you for all the replies! so sorry i didn`t reply quickly I`ve just been very, very busy. :S I did manage to relax somewhat on my weekend though (but mainly did chores). I decided to try a variety of things. I totally get what Erin is saying about needing to be out to relax. Its not easy when you are home and constantly reminded of all the things you have to do. I find walking around stores can sometimes be relaxing but it usually depresses me a bit since we don`t have loads of money. Nice when there are sales though.

So to relax I had a little bit of alcohol (i'm legal no worries). Did some aromatherapy (lavander, eucalyptus, mint, and rosemary) watched some funny shows, spent some time with my pets and got a new pet.

I got a betta fish He's in a 5gallon tank they come in gallon sizes over here its 3.89litters per gallon i believe if you are trying to do size conversions in your head Got it all set up and find him to be very relaxing. I love watching fish swim around and he loves to swim. He absolutely hated his little bowl in the store and was madly thrashing like hey let me out of here. seriously. i want out. now! So he just zooms around. very fun to watch. Its like he believes he will wake up and be in a tiny container again. So far loving the aquarium thing. Once I know more about them I might get a second one a bit larger and get fish that can live together so i can have one in another room too. I really love this one tank but its a bit pricey so I need to be good and wait. for quite awhile probably. I scored a deal on the tank I did get but it took a lot of research to find. Usually going to the pet store relaxes me some too I love seeing different animals and the store here seems to take fairly good care of theirs (a least one of them).

I think the last time I de-stressed and relaxed was when I went away on holiday five years ago. I only have saturdays off work so try and relax then but usually end up doing housework and cleaning hamster and bird cages out.

Let's just say I'm awful at relaxing.

I can't really exercise, well I can do certain kinds of exercise, but I don't like those. I'm not meant to run, do steps, or resistance training, or athletics, ball games basically anything that puts lots of pressure on my joints especially my knees [I have juvenile osteoarthritis] so 'proper' exercise is not an option.

I try to occupy myself by doing things around the house
