Imma rant to you guys quick.

Well, a couple weeks ago, we got a notice in out mailbox that our mail lady tripped & was hurt on our dog leash out front. It asked us to move it to the back like it was before, YET, we've had not one, but usually TWO in front since we've got Bruno, two years ago. Then we've always had the one out there since we moved in 8 years ago. She's been our mail lady all this time, and there was never a problem, she never "tripped" over them before.

The leashes are always up on the deck, so we just bring the dogs to the door, and clip them on. So, I don't see how she could have tripped on it, when our mailbox is next to the deck, and she doesn't have to go on it. When she brings packages, I have witnessed her just drop the mail in the slot on the ground, then put the package on the deck from the ground, still not going anywhere near the leashes.

Well, today we just checked the mail, and there is another notice, stating how she wants us to pay for her bills, and again stating she wants them in back. (Which we didn't put it in back, but is now only outside when we let the dogs out.) Well, I don't even know how she "got hurt" as we were all home, only a few feet from the mail slot, and didn't hear any fall, or any commotion, we didn't even see her go near the leashes. (As to how our windows are - we can see out them from the couch ... which we were sitting on).

Now, we can either fight it, or pay the bills. Which I keep telling my mom let's take it to court.

I have pictures with dates on them from years ago showing we have leashes out there, so her whole "THEY WERE IN BACK" theory would be thrown out the window. (okay, I don't know much about how this whole court thing works I admit, but I still think we could win.) My mom thinks our home insurance can maybe pay for any bills, so she doesn't want to go through the whole thing with getting a lawyer & all (which is understandable since they cost so dang much). It might not even be that big of a bill, but I think she's being crazy about it. I mean, it just doesn't even seem like it really happened from what I stated above. T_T I'm not saying it didn't, but we just didn't even see her go on the deck, we saw her head in the window, on the ground, and never heard an OW or THUMP or anything.

Okay, I hope that makes sense. I'm sleepy.

Sounds like you should take photos of the leash locations and photos of approaching your mailbox and take it to court =/ Medical bills can be quite expensive, and she's probably just trying to get someone to pay for them. Sometimes just telling people that you won't give in easily to something unreasonable can stop them from going further.

Shouldnt the mail lady have health insurance if shes working?? Im not sure how it works across the pond, just what Ive seen on Friends LMAO xxx

Could you try talking to her about it? It seems pretty pathetic for her to be just leaving notices and not even bothering to complain to your face :/

I would tell her to get stuffed until she can produce a lawyer of her own to demand payment of the bills instead of leaving silly letters in your mail box.

She probably not even hurt in the slightest, just an opportunist..If she wants to take it further she will need a letter from her doctor to say her injury was caused as a direct result of her fall..I kinda agree with your mum and its a lot of hassle taking it further yet people who cannot take responsibility for their own health annoy me..
If it really was that bad how come you only heard about it in a letter? wouldn't she have shouted for someone at the time? grrr @ post lady.. I can understand why you are annoyed..

My mom is saying how, you know, shouldn't this be in place of her work? I mean, she has to walk around all the time, in many yards, there are many hazards. What if she tripped on the sidewalk? Or she tripped on someone's stairs? Would that mean they have to remove the stairs & whatever else they throw out there?

So, here's what we now have gotten: She has had to have dental work done, and xrays for the dental, so she wants us to pay for it. Now, the thing my mom was talking about, home insurance, or something, can't pay for it unless we send in $1000 in for something that starts with a C (Sorry, I've forgotten what it's called). THEN, once we've sent that $1000 dollars, insurance will pay for it.

Right now, due to having xrays & dental done, we are guessing the bills have been racked up from all she has had done.

Right now my mom isn't sure what we are going to do. We don't have the money for this.

She is still calling people & figuring things out.

Sadly, I don't think working will just work in this situation. Especially when there is money involved, sigh.

This wouldn't happen in my neck of the woods. We would tell her to look where she is going, and look after herself. And it would probably involve some bad words

Sorry your family is facing this silliness, seems like it's probably quite stressful!
