Would you ever date a person who didn't like hamsters?

My young man friend (hopefully an official boyfriend soon) seems like a fine catch. He's crazy about Geri! He loves to hold her and pet her and even lets her sit on his head. He's even wants to get a hamster of his very own!

If you found out that someone you were seeing didn't like hammies, would that be a dealbreaker?

Hmmm. =/ my partner isn't hugely into my Izuna-Wheatley but he understands that Izu means a lot to me. When Rin died he came straight round to make sure I was okay and while he wouldn't have a ham of his own he's alright looking at mine and me talking about Izu a lot. XD

I think that as long as they understand how much they mean to you its enough, like LRP said.
My bf loooves my Ratatas, but not so much Button, I think thats because when i first got her she was a bitey madam and there was blood, lots of my blood haha, this didnt bother me but hes more reluctant to go near her.
Oh and i think the way I mother her, cos shes the baby in my furfamily, freeks him out LOL cos i get uber broody and it scares him XD

Well my OH really didn't want a hamster, but I begged him to let me get one, and in the end he bought me Marley. Now he loves them and we have 3 XD. However if he didn't like them then it wouldn't make me leave him. Relationships are about compromise, for example I would just have one hamster, and he would have to be ok with that, whereas I am ok with certain things he does/has in return

Well, if they personally didn't like hamsters I guess it would be fine. As long as they didn't treat Oliver like trash or anything. But if they didn't like animals in general or understand why I care so much about animal welfare, that would be the dealbreaker because I hate people like that.

But honestly, who wouldn't like my little Oliverr.

To be honest, no. Gratefully, my boyfriend loves hamsters just as much as me, we went to buy Pepper together, and he bought me Magnum when we had started dating. Granted, he had nothing to do with Magnum, as he barely came over to my house, but now that we live together, he is just as nuts about our hammie as I am, and he spoils her just as much as I do. XD

If he didn't like them, I do not think I would dump him just because of that. I am sure some compromise can be met. Our only non compromise is cats, as he would never have one, but his allergies are mostly the ones that get in the way there. XD

Well lets just say I 'approved' (hehe) of my sister's boyfriend because he loved Wiggles! But otherwise I agree with everyone else, if he understands it's fine. It's if he grumbles about how much I love my hamsters (in a non-joking) way that is a dealbreaker.

Yeh, understanding I guess is the key. But my obsession with hamsters has sadly turned my OH away from them (I have no idea how), as he doesn't love Sen as much as he did with Doc and then less with Noodle (our dwarfs, RIP). But he was never overly keen on them, they were always my pet. He definitely doesn't hate them though - as he often looks over and watches her play in her cage and *prods* her when she is playing with me. He does sometimes complain about me spending lots of time with her, or spending too much on her. But like I've said before, he has his hobby (video games - which he spends a lot of time and money on) and I have mine (hamsters). So neither of us can really complain, but we do :P

No, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, as someone said it's all about compromise. However, if they were very anti animal in general then it would be a deal breaker. I'm very suspicious about people like that...
