Unhappy Bye bye Momo

Today I had to put my Momo to sleep.

It caught me totally off guard. 3 days ago he'd been his usual self, and due to my working hours I'd thought I was just missing his awake time until I noticed he wasn't making the journey downstairs to eat his food. This morning I found him lethargic and breathing hard

A trip to the vets discovered enlarged kidneys and a mass in his abdomen. He'd been treated for a urine infection just 3 weeks ago and nothing untoward was found then, so he must have gotten poorly pretty quickly. Unfortunately I had to make the decision to have him put to sleep.

It's so much earlier than I was expecting to loose him, he was only a year old, and I cried like a baby. The vet took some pawprints for me, and now he's buried in my back garden under a tree.

Really gonna miss the little guy Sleep well Momo. You were such a friendly little guy, the best first hamster I could have asked for.

It's so sad when these things happen, it sounds like he was very loved in his little life though! Sorry for your loss, run free little Momo. Big hugs.

How lovely to have the paw prints though, do you have any plans for them? I'd love a necklace with my dogs paw print on, she died very young after a nasty illness and it was heartbreaking. One day when I have the money I'll get it done.

I have a few tattoos already, so I was planning to add his pawprints to the collection. Just two little ones on the side of my wrist. Will be a nice reminder

So sorry for your loss, it's always so hard to lose them at such a young age.

Run free & play well at the bridge little Momo.

So sorry too hear about Momo, I love what the vet did, taking some paw prints, I wish I'd thought of that with Archie. I cried like a baby when Archie passed, it helps to let it all out. They may only have a short life but, they make such an impact, give so much love and happiness and leave a void when they die.
