We have only felt able to post this now, but our beloved Kipton went to the Rainbow Bridge last Friday.
Last November he had a slight stroke, but, although he had a tilty head, he was still happy and active. Gradually though he began to lose weight and sleep a lot more, and when we went to check on him on Thursday night he seemed to have had another stroke, and was very weak. I held him in my hand and told him it was OK to go. We tucked him back in his nest and the next day he had gone peacefully.
Kipton, you were such a wonderful hamster. One of my first Dwarfs, you were so special. You made me laugh with your 'millet spews' and your buddha ham impressions in your 'flying house'. You were always so loving and gorgeous, and always there for me. I was so proud of you and your Best in Shows, particularly at Bradford Champs. You were such a little beauty, and I'll never forget you. Rest in Peace my little Kippy Koo, play happily at the bridge. xxx
Here is a poem written in memory of him.
A pearl in the ocean, a pearl in the sea,
A snowball in summer’s what you were to me
A sparkle in darkness, my light in the night,
My little perfection was always just right.
You helped me fulfil an ambition or two,
My Best in Show champion, my sweet dream come true,
My first of the little ones, licking my hand,
My Kipton, sweet snowball, my own little man.
Last night when I held you and heard your faint call,
I told you to go, my little snowball
My snowball in summer, we’re never apart,
My snowball has melted right here in my heart
Here is a video I made as a tribute to him.
