Default RIP Rhino - My beautiful golden satin boy

Rhino was put to sleep this morning

Some of you may have seen my hamster healthcare thread about is declining health due to his age. On Thursday I noticed his walk was very slow and he fell a couple of times and was having difficulty getting water out his bottle. On Friday he wouldn't come out his nest, instead leaning out to paw around for food which he then struggled to eat. We made then hard decision to help him on his way and he went about 9am this morning.

You were my big lovely golden satin boy and I'll always remember your love of cucumber, your spider acrobatics in your cage and on the sofa and your obsession with slamming into things in your ball (disguised escape attempts!)

Sleep tight Rhino, have fun playing up there. Hope they have your favourite wodent wheel ready for you!

Many thanks to the Abbey Vet Centre in Paisley, as Rhino had never had cause to go I wasn't aware they were a certified small animal practice. The vet was exceptionally kind and gentle with Rhino.

He's a shining star now, just as he was in your life. He was beautiful and had a wonderful life with you. I hope you're okiie. You did everything you could but his life had run its course as all our friends do.

What a beautiful boy, his coat is absolutely gorgeous. You gave him the kindest gift you possibly could at the end with the love you had given him his whole life. Play well at the bridge with your new friends lovely Rhino xx
