Re: newbie.
Yes Naboo is named after Naboo from the Mighty Boosh. He's got a very awful sketchy "Nabootique" sign written on his cage. A few people have asked if it was cos of the Naboo offa Star Wars too. His full name is Naboo Pablo Escobar.
The new winter whites are settling in ok, but are still quite timid, especially Boris. I have decided to call the babies Boris Yeltsin and Vladimir Putin. (Everyone's favourite Russian mentalists... sorry premiers)
The father was already named Pip, but he will now be known as Pip Rachmaninoff. Pip is just too boring. I was thinking Sheldon, Howard and Leonard like off the BIG Bang Thoery, but the are Russian after all.
And yes I am entirely mad...and one day when I have human babies they will also have equally rediculous names.
These are just a few pics off my phone. I put the tea light in to get an idea of size when txting it to my friends. And Naboo its being squished in that photo, he's got food in his pouches. I'll some tidy proper camera ones in the next few days.

Re: newbie.
Your hamsters are SO cute little bundles, especially the 2 cuddled together!
Their bedding looks like the fluffy cotton wool type? The experienced hamster-folk at HC describe this as being potentially dangerous to hamsters, even though it might say "safe" on the packaging, so if I were you, I would switch to something else e.g. shredded loo roll or tissues.

Re: newbie.
yep looks like fluffy bedding sometimes called 'safe bed'
This can cause blockages if digested (as hamsters pouch there bedding when building a a nest theres no guarrentee it won't accidentelly be ingested)
You may want to change to Shredded toilet/kitchen roll, shredded j-cloth or safe unprinted shredded paper

Re: newbie.
hello and welcome, with the dwarfs i used to breed they would squeak when fighting, or just because a cagemate touched them lol the key is to recognise the squeaks from fighting so you can intervene but as a general rule i found they squeaked a lot even if they werent in pain

Re: newbie.
Hi and welcome, your little hammies are lovely! Great names too!
I would urge you to change the fluffy bedding like the others have said. It can not be broken down if digested and so causes a blockage in the bowel, meaning that your hammie will not be able to pass his stools. This is very dangerous as a hammy digestive system has to be constantly working to keep it healthy. Please swap to cheep loo roll or kitchen roll or the shreded jcloth nesting material, it is just as warm and sunggly and a lot safer
