Is Burgess a good food
Recently I've had some confusion surrounding pet food. I have a rabbit as well as hamsters and with rabbits it's beat to avoid muesli type mixes and go for plain nuggets. My rabbit is on burgess nuggets and my hamsters are on the burgess hamster, gerbil and mouse food. Because of what I knew with rabbits i thought that the same would go for hamsters and, wanting to feed them healthily, I introduced them to plain burgess nuggets.
Now I am not sure if I have done the right thing as I have heard people saying muesli mixes encourage natural foraging and represent a hamster's natural diet of grains and seeds.
If anyone had any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Is Burgess a good food
Mixes are the way to go in almost every case with the exception being hamsters who have teeth issues and as such can't chew so they'd need moistened pellets instead of a mix.
Rabbit diets and hamster diets are extremely different! For a rabbit, grains and seeds are very unhealthy and are extremely hard to digest(among other issues which you probably know) while for hamsters grains and seeds are very healthy as long as they're a safe variety. This is just one small example of dietary differences, but I'm sure it can at least help a little bit for more perspective on why the type of food that would be suitable for one species just isn't appropriate for the other.
