Default Hello!

Hello I'm new here. I adopted this little guy from petsmart. He was adopted out because he doesn't use his back left leg. His name is Bacon. I apologize for the photo being upside down. It came from my iPhone.

Hi there and welcome! Your ham is very cute!

I noticed on the photo it looks like you are using fluffy bedding for him. I realize your want the best for your little one, but it's dangerous stuff, have a look here:
Poorly Robo *THE DANGERS OF FLUFFY BEDDING*

I would recommend something simple and safe instead: bits of ripped up toilet tissue. Hamsters love shredding it and making nests with it--and it's safe!

Hope you will find HC an informative and enjoyable place to learn about hamster things!

Are you talking about his nesting materials to the right or the actual bedding?

Thank you everyone. Ham I replaced his nesting material with toilet paper. Thank you for your heads up. Is that the only suitable nesting material for them?

They don't really need nesting material if you already use paper-based bedding, but if you use shavings: toilet tissue or any paper-based bedding (like Carefresh, Kaytee's Clean and Cozy, etc) are good. Toilet tissue is cheap, accessible, and hamsters seem to love shredding it and using it for their nests.

Okay, I'm thinking about making bedding for him out of toilet tissue. Right now he's on Carefresh mix and he sneezes sometimes.
