Default New old Hamster owner haha

Haii yall My names Deanna, I live in SC usa.

I currently have 5 Gerbils but I use to have Hamsters while growing up. I had a black Syrian named Blackie when i was ten and he was my bestest buddie in all the world but he sadly passed of old age and I dont have any pictures of him but other then him there were multiple others but blackie stood out to me most. I dunno if it was just because he was a Syrian and all the others had been robos.

Right now my gerbils are my babies, they had 3 pups 13 days ago and are so cute!

So i've been looking into Syrians again and their just soo adorable! Nothing can compare to a chubby fluffy fat syrian

So what I would like to know is,

1. Cage or tank, if so what size?
2. Gerbil food okay?
3. what sort of substrate?
4. plastic is bad for gerbils if they chew it, why is it different for hamsters?
5. Anything else I should be looking for when preparing to adopt a syrian?

If yall could please answer my questions I would be a very happy!

Welcome to the forum.
I think it would be good to ask each question separately in the appropriate section to get the fullest replies as they are quite wide ranging in options for each question
