Re: Finacard
its a type of hamster bedding, its made of bits of shredded cardboard
This is it: www.finacard.co.uk
I wanted to get a big bag of bedding that will last ages and as my bf is allergic to carefresh as its a bit dusty!! So I'm thinking of trying that

Re: Finacard
Hi there.
I've used Finacard before. Price was good and it arrived very quickly. However I found it was more cost effective for me to continue to use Bed Xcel as we have so many guinea pigs & rats.
I use the Bed Xcel for the hamster too. But lots of people I know of use Finacard for their african pygmy hedgehogs as it's small cut. It would be fine for your hamster.
I would recommend it - I just don't use it as it wasn't as economical on a large scale as the Bed Xcel is.
Hope that helps!

Cool thanks, did you order it from the finacard website? How long did it take as I'm only here for a week before I go back to my parents so I was wondering if it will arrive before then?
Bed Xcel... is that the one that has slightly bigger bits? As long as finacard is more economical than carefresh I don't mind too much - £14 seems not a bad price for that much of it and I only have 3 hamsters

Re: Finacard
I did order it from the Finacard website and it was here in a couple of days.
I ordered their complete package which included shredded paper bedding. I didn't find that very economical though.
However I can get twice as much Bed Xcel for exactly half that price, which is why I didn't order any more. And it does just as well as the Finacard.
But I have no complaints about the Finacard in itself. And it did arrive quickly, as I said.

Re: Finacard
Sorry - yes, the Bed Xcel is the one with the bigger square cut bits. Our hamster manages perfectly well with that too.

Re: Finacard
hmmm... i'll consider this in future but for now megazorb being a short drive away for £5 works better for me.
But this sounds great for allergy problems!

Re: Finacard
It's good for allergies - in humans and in animals!
We started using Bed Xcel for our rats as they are very susceptible to respiratory problems. Wood shavings are a no-no for rats, really.
Plus the mess they make ...............!!
My younger daughter and I have asthma and my husband and my older daughter have hay fever and the Bed Xcel (and the Finacard) are great for us too.
Plus they're both so much cheaper than shavings. Bed Xcel being the cheapest for me. Even cheaper than Megazorb, which I've also considered using for our messier piggies - might still get some for them.

Re: Finacard
Cool thanks - I think I will try finacard this time as I only have 3 hamsters so should be fine
I would love to use megazorb as it looks great but I'm pretty sure it will trigger my boyfriend's allergy in the same way that carefresh and the paper pellets I'm currently using will!
