Smile Sharky's new home

Hi everybody,

I spent a lot of time looking for a new home for my Roborovski.
Mostly because of the Savic Rody he was living in wasn't cat safe enough for him. It was very difficult because I had trouble finding a suitable option.
Many things were either out of my budget or far too big for me to place in my living room.

Today I got lucky with a good deal on this brand new (fish) tank.
It is roomy and has a ventilation gap in the back.
I bought some new toys, a platform with another two attached to it, on which I had to do some diy, because it was high enough to reach the ventilation gap and posed an escape risk.

I took the middle platform out and made it a bit shorter so he can't reach the vent gap. Also he got a new little bridge to help him get up the platforms on which he is all over at the moment. I placed his silent spinner in the corner on his little house. And he is very busy at the moment running around.

I changed the bedding from sawdust to carefresh, I used the sawdust which was treated to be very dustfree but planned on putting him on carefresh because it works best for me and I like it very much with it being virtually dust free and long lasting.

I am very happy with his new tank and he is having a lot of fun in it!

Take care,

Joey

So I bought Sharky his new magnetic water bottle holder and I am very happy with it...
Btw, I just found out this week that Sharky is a boy, I put him in a glass cup and I saw his little pink funbags lol.
He has been very active and having fun in his new home. He isn't very tame but I can hold him and he is getting more used to handling but he remains a bit skittish and shy. I hope he will get a bit more tame in the future

Still going well, changed it up a bit.
I'll post photos on request because with 143 views, I feel like I'm talking to myself.

Bye bye.

I don't know how I missed this thread, I'm sorry. His new cage looks so good and he looks like he has plenty of things to do inside. That magnetic water bottle holder looks good. I really like the way you made a cross tunnel out of those kitchen roll tubes, that is such a good idea. I would like to see pictures of how it looks now?
Sorry again for missing your thread.

Sorry you haven't had any replies before today, it just happens sometimes.

It does look like a nice set up for Sharky, you've thought up some good things for him in there, I'm sure he's enjoying it.

I would maybe make the substrate a bit deeper so he can dig around more & burrow a bit other than that it looks fun for him.

Thanks, I thought of it, but I use carefresh, and I have to take the expense a bit in mind when using the stuff, sadly it's kind of pricey stuff especially with two hams, but I try to give them just enought to crawl throught it and have fun in it.

Thanks I ordered it online from a company that makes them here in Holland. I don't know if they ship abroad, but you could take a look and ask them. The site is in Dutch but you could email the company to ask for some info. Magnetische Drinkfleshouder | Wessanda

Thanks again everybody I appreciate it.

Thanks, I am always on the lookout for a nice photo, I caught him eating and he stayed still for a few moments, so I grabbed my phone and made a little burst shoot, this one came out the best.

I can now say for sure he is a he, he became sexually mature a while ago, and he clearly has two little balls when I put him in a glass container to check.

I have the feeling he hasn't been handled from the beginning, and that's noticable when trying to handle him. He is very nervous, and sometimes tolerates being handled but isn't a big fan.
I try to handle them regularly but I notice he doesn't like it very much so I don't try to force it on him. It is a lot of fun watching him, he loves to run around and run in his wheel.
