Default privet hedges?

Are the branches of privet hedges safe to put in a hamsters cage? I have loads that are getting taken out and would like some form of branch in the cage.

I know it's toxic to birds, I have no idea about hamsters, personally wouldn't risk it

It's toxic for cats, dogs & horses too so I'm pretty sure it's toxic for hams.
