Default Help!!!

Hello I am hopefully getting two roborvorski hamsters soon and I am looking for a cage but need some help, the cage is going to be in my bedroom on a table 50cm square and need a cage slightly smaller (doesn't have to be square) I would prefer a two floored cage, but please suggest anything you think would be appropriate, also I do like the plastic cages with less bars as I know robos are good escape artists!
Thank you

Hamsters ideally need a space of 75x40cm, especially if you are getting a pair as you eill need two wheels, water bottles, houses ect and 50cm wonwon't provide the space a pair needs. Also you will need to avoid cages with levels or tubes with a pair as they can fight over territory and could seriously injure each other, or one end up being dead from a fight. Any pair can fight at any point in their life so you would need to prepare to separate them and so have a second spare cage.

I think you should have a think about it, maybe consider just one robo instead or wait until you can provide more space for them, or have a larger surface to put them on.

I would suggest reading moderator Tammy's website which a great source on info on all things robo! Tank type cages are best for them as they can get through bars quite easily and also levels are not great as they can fall off and they are not great on going up ladders or tubes.

I agree with everything SinNyx said, but think that even for one Robo that a cage smaller than 50cm x 50cm may be too small.
Each hamster is an individual and while some are quite happy in a smaller cage others make full use of their larger cages and would love to have more. Please have a really good think about it.

I really like this tank cage, the Duna Multy which is very roomy - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ferplast-Dun.../dp/B00F5ZZ348

I'd personally say the rosewood pico is too small for any hamster, the mini duna (55cm by 39cm) is the absolute smallest I'd go for a dwarf hamster and a ZZ1 or similar (approx 70cm by 40cm) is the smallest I'd reccomend going for a syrian. I'd strongly reccomend getting at least a ZZ1 or similar for even a single dwarf too - they will really appreciate the extra space.

Thank you but I still think the rosewood pico would be most suitable for me, I have seen many Syrian hamsters live happily in this cage through friends and YouTube and I will be letting my hamster explore the house in its little ball

Thats your choice to make but many on the forum would feel the same way as I do. Too small a wheel or cage increases the risk of bar chewing and both the wheel and the pico itself are pretty small for a syrian If you do get the pico I sincerly hope your hamster doesn't start bar chewing for you
