Re: Screech's new cage. pic heavy
I really like this cage & what you guys have done with them is amazing. I'd love to get one but totally suck at DIY so I went to the Amazon page & asked TecTake if they's considered making one with front access & they say they'll "take it into consideration". so maybe one day.....

Sounds like a good idea. They might do it if it means selling more as it will be an easier access. They are doing well at the mo, because there has been 21 sold since I bought mine. I think I was the 10th one to buy, but had never seen one built and occupied. If I had the money and space, I would buy another one.

That might be an option if Aspen's tank wasn't already on my table!

Re: Screech's new cage. pic heavy
Hi Ian. Jocardi's cage arrived today...only ordered it on Sunday. My father in law is a joiner so im passinh it on to him to build and amend. Can I ask you please...PVA glue....is it all the same? I went to buy some today and a large craft PVA glue was £3 where as the small one packed for kids was £2. The bloke in the sjpp wasnt at all helpful. Will it actually be the same stuff...or should I buy the one that states its kid friendly. ( I think the man in the shop thought I was nuts when I said I wanted it for my hamster!!! Lol xx

Hi, That came quick. Well done.
I think PVA is all the same. It has the same smell as wood glue, school glue and schools also water it down and use it as a glaze over acrylic paint and it seals paint. It is pet safe as if eaten, it is not harmful. I often get it on my skin and peel it off. I even bite it off my fingeres if my nails are too short. It is completely safe.
Cant wait to see how you have the opening set up and the cage layout.
The more you buy in larger packs, the cheaper it is. I have a gallon can of it in my shed and I put some in a washing up liquid bottle as it is easier to use and when the top is closed, it does not dry out or set. I use this for my wood working projects and use the stuff out of the gallon can for other projects, ie sealing, painting, using like wall size sealer. even for paper mache things when it is watered down. Sets rock hard as well.

Id like to add that i dont think all pva is the same. When we ripped our house apart (took it all back to the brick) we had a few big tubs of febond pva. We had a bit left over and i went to use it a few weeks ago for building some things for my ham but had a read of the tub first and it didnt say non-toxic, it also said along the lines of wash immediately if you get it on your skin Obviously i didnt use and bought some kiddies stuff. Just be cautious

Hi. That cage is fab! I love to see animals in large cages as they spend an awful lot of time in them. My hubby thinks I'm nuts as I always end up doing mods on normal sized cages to make them bigger. (actually its him that ends up with the job but he doesn't mind really)

I will have to re-read my tub. I get it on my hands and even smear it with my fingers when applying it to wood. It has not done anything to my skin. I dont know if builders PVA has an addative in it. I think the one i have is a wood and paper pva.
