Default Duna fun or a savic Cambridge?

Hi I have a long haired syrian boy who at present is living in a duna fun cage, I can't help but feel that this cage is a bit small, I am contemplating getting him a Savic Cambridge although this does not contain any tubes - something which Clyde seems to like, I am also worried about him falling off the top shelf in the Cambridge should I get him one. What would you say is the better cage.

Hmmmm..... wellll.... it depends on your hamster.

The Cambridge is a nice cage *but* it's no good if you have a bar chewer so that's just something to think about. The Duna Fun is harder to bar gnaw as the bars are closer together so it's harder for a hamster to stick it's nose through and have a good chew. :P

I would agree though that the Duna Fun is a little small for a Syrian hamster but you could always just get another Duna Fun if your hamster likes that cage and attach it via the tubes. You can buy plugs for the holes from Here or This Ferplast Toy also comes with three yellow 'stoppers' that bung up the holes on a Duna Fun.

I use my Duna Fun as an 'attachment' for my Syrian hamster - he lives in a glass tank (as he's a hyperactive serial bar gnawing hamster!) with a Duna Fun attached as you can see here:

Hope this gives you some food for thought. x

Thanks for the pics and links - what a good idea joining the two together like that

someone did mention that tubes are not a good idea for long haired boys as it can damage their skirts but if you're not worried about that I don't see why they shouldn't have them, if they like them?

I have a LH in a cambridge that I took the plastic shelves out of and put in my own wooden ones instead - there are 3 instead of 2 so no danger of him falling off the top one.

The "best" cages I own and the best ones I've seen are ones people have made or adapted themselves
