Re: Snowflake Woodshavings
Yes, they are completely safe, in the u.k all woodshavings are kiln dried. Also they are quite large flakes and are dust extracted. I've been using them for a while now and can honestly reccomend them. I know of a lot of people who use them!
Hope this helped!

Re: Snowflake Woodshavings
Snowflake shavings are probably the best shavings around if you have to use shavings. The flakes are large and fluffy and the bag has barely any residue. However, if you have a farm shop nearby, you might want to try Aubiose hemp horse bedding. It`s better, absorbent and comes in 20kg bales! Aubiose doesn`t have the strong scent that wood shavings have.

That's where I get mine from - £1.50 a bag. Can't argue with that especially when you've got Alexanders and Zoozones to fill
I have to say though that my last 2 bags have had a lot more sharp bits in than normal. Might just have been a dodgy batch but worth just double checking that you have gotten them all out before putting hammy back in the cage.

Re: Snowflake Woodshavings
They are pretty good as far as shavings go. I've used Snowflake for years, and so cheap. In our shop we sell it for £1.20 per block/bag, and it used to be even cheaper. My only qualm really is that they sell lavender and lemon scent varieties, which I really don't like.

Re: Snowflake Woodshavings
Yeh they are perfectly safe... all pine wood shavings in the UK have been kiln dried so all of the natural oil in it (that is harmful to hamsters) has been removed. Cedar though is harmful weather it is kiln dried or not. In pets at home they charge something like £8 for a bale, I get mine from home bargains. It has to be a big home bargains as the smaller one don't stock it. Anyway I get mine for £1.50 which is a good deal.
