Default And now emergency bin no.2 is in use, arghh!!

Would you credit it? Its not been 48 hours (or is time flying faster? its been a mad week!) since my crowing about new cages and my emergency bins finally being empty.

Tonight I caught my rescue robo Arnie bullying one of the "footballers" who live with him....I picked up the little footie boy and he had a bleeding bum. Arghh!!! So, now there's a footballing robo in emergency bin 2. My dwarves are definitely out to test me this week.

I'm not quite sure what to do yet - I don't want the little boy to stay on his own, but I'm reluctant to pluck another footballer out if they all seem happy with Arnie - and there's a nice group of 4 together.

Its taken me the last month or so to get all my various robos groups into a state of calm - I've been doing all sorts of intros and shuffling robos about - so I really don't want to risk upsetting the current, possibly fragile, happy balance.

So, I'm sitting tight tonight and "monitoring" (great word for lying in the sofa reading "Heat"). Tomorrow is another trip to Ashford so it looks like 2 more cages are on the shopping list. And possibly a little robo friend. Shoot me someone, please!

Aw, that's such a shame. Hope you manage to find a little friend for him.

These guys have been happily living together in a Rex for quite a few months but Arnie has obviously decided to exert his authority. He's very clearly the boss anyway - he sits in the little Gabber house and "supervises" the footballers while they're playing - so I don't know why he's started on this little boy. But that's dwarfies for us!

Shouldn't grumble, I love each and every one of them. I just don't want to have to build shelves over my windows to fit more cages in!

oh dear ELC. i know how gutting this is, believe me. I can't say i'm surprised. this happened with all of my groups until they were all lone hams

So now you've got injured boy on his own yeah and then 3 others, inc. arnie who is the dominant?

ok, if i've got that right, what i'd do is pluck out the most placcid docile one who is at the bottom of the pecking order and put him with injured boy. It's likely that injured boy is 2nd dominant after arnie, which will be why he got injured. the other 2 probably stepped down, where injured footballer stood up to him. so if you put placcid boy with injured and other placcid boy with arnie, that might work...

so you'd have:
arnie (no.1) with placcid1 (no. 3)
injured (no. 2) with placcid2 (no.4)

don't keep a trio, cos that's just not gonna work out

cancel that: ok, just re-read the post and you've now got 4 not 3. that changes my opinion now then!! i'd pluck out Arnie and keep him alone and leave the other 4. i'd put injured back in with the other 3 and house arnie alone. Chances are that Arnie could pick off one after the other if they challenge him.

Thanls Bunsey...you made me laugh! I love the idea of Arnie "picking off" the others one by one. There's a reason he's called Arnie after all!!

BVMark PM'd me and suggested removing Arnie too...so the little beaten boy is back in with his 3 brothers and (as they say on Project Runway) Arnie is out - no doubt muttering "I'll be back" in robo squeaks as he left.

I really don't want Arnie to be on his own. He was my first robo and he's knocking on a bit now. So....slightly mad decision....I've put him in with my older robo mum Sylvester (yes, its Stallone vs Schwarzenegger)...if Sylvester ends up pregnant (and who knows, given Arnie's advancing years), at least I know she's had one healthy pregnancy before and I know what to do...and any babies will always have a forever home with me. So...we'll see. ...

Okay I'm now really tempting fate by posting this....I went back to Ashford today to the second pet shop that sarahh recommended (having already cleaned the first shop out of Gabber Luxes on Wed)....and bought their entire stock of Luxes too (okay, so they only had two but it made me happy). They seemed very excited that I'd come "all the way from London" to get them....it was slightly embarassing when they started telling the whole shop.

So...not only do I have my two emergency bins back and empty, I have a spare cage too. Anyone want to take bets on how long before someone moves in?? I'm hoping we can at least get through tonight with any new "incidents".

I'm sure if you haven't filled them by the 14th June, then they will be full by about 7pm that night
About 2 hours for you to get back from andover??????????
