I've had Mildred my syrian for just over a week now - and of course Chunky arrived yesterday. Mildren spends a lot of the evening out of her cage but keeps escaping the run I made, probably because it's intended for my dwarfs and she (by comparisan) is a giant!!
Anyway last night I decided to try something new, my shed is 6 foot by 8 foot and still fairly new so there's no holes or escape routes.
I can see under both self units and the hutches (for the piggies) are raised off the floor so I can get under those too, the rest of the floor is clean and tidy.
So I set up lots and lots of toys, made a ladder from Mildred's cage onto the floor and off she went.
I only left her for an hour (and I panicked most of that hour) but when I went back she came straight out when she heard my voice (which was the lovliest thing ever) and happily showed me she's managed to chew through all my (guinea pig) show boards - but what a party she had
Chunky is still settling in but Mildred is very forward and bold, it was really lovely to see her trotting about merrily, and she got back into her cage no problem at all. Bet she won't tonight though she's going to have me laying on the floor for hours, I just have that feeling, beginner's luck and all!!
I would like to be brave enough to leave her out all night but I wouldn't get any sleep!!
Where do your hammies excerises???
