I don't use houses, but I like wooden log bridges that they will sleep under like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Small-Fiddle-Stic ... dZViewItem

If you have a really small syrian then something like this is nice too: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TWO-STORY-HAMSTER ... dZViewItem

I use cardboard boxes. My cats eat sachets of food and I find the boxes they come in are just the right size for a hamster house. Some of them chew the boxes to bits but they are obviously very easy to replace.

The ceramic houses are too small for a large syrian. They can also get hot and sticky as they are not well ventilated. We either have an open nest under a shelf or a large 'log cabin'

mm yeh you are probably right...
for one syr i have a huge wooden house... and i leave it emty so if he wants to fill it he can.

what do you mean by log cabin? because i dont udnerstand what you mean by that.

my hamsters are just in their new tank that we built. so it is wood all around and glass windows in the front (was originaly for a reptile)

but now i have 2 fill it up with stuff...i thought a little house like that would look nice... not to sleep in really just for fun for them to go into once in a while

The place I got Noodles used these open mouthed hippos things as houses - you can get them from P@H.

There are these too ...
http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.a...616&pf_id=2765

But if Souffle thinks they aren't very good, I wouldn't get one.

What about something like this ...
http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/rodent...s/cabins/33683

or this ...
http://www.ardentpets.co.uk/small-an...s/prod_93.html

I also have a terracotta plant pot for Noodles so maybe you could try that - only 39p from Homebase!!!!

This is what I meant!!

I don't have one - they were in the shop that I got my hamster - sorry, I didn't make that clear.

Maybe your friend could order them from that website for you?
If you email them, they would probably ship to you, as it says on the "Postage Rates" page that UK and international rates are rising which I think implies they ship outside UK but I'm afraid I don't know how much that'd be.

If your friend lives near a shop called Pets at Home (this is the major pet chain shop in UK) she may be willing to pop in and get one for you. This is where I saw them for sale.

Also, only UK websites come up when I google so maybe you could try as you might find a stockist near you.

Good Luck!

The hippos and other jungle bungalows aren't suitable for a syrian though as they are really small, my dwarfs can just about fit in there
