Re: Alaska hamster cage
Not at all wobbly. The four sides hook together really firmly. There are little stick-up bits around the base so it sits in securely an there are 6 clips to attach the base and the bars.
Once you slide the bars together they feel as strong as a non-flat pack version. I've had flat packs before that fall apart when you take the base off for cleaning but this isn't at all like that.
Also the handles are metal (unlike the weak plastic ones on the Barney). You can lift the whole cage and contents by the handles whereas the Barney ones are clearly only for lifting the top off.

Re: Alaska hamster cage
Oh, this cage looks so awesome (apart from that weird house! ) It's definitely going towards the top of my list of cages to buy if I am ever allowed another hamster

Re: Alaska hamster cage
My Alaska arrived today! I agree that the quality was better than I was expecting for the price. The box was a little battered which worried me, but the cage base wasn't damaged. Unfortunately, the solder on two of the bars hadn't worked, or had broken, so they are really loose in the middle, so I will have to wire them. However, I have to say that I was impressed with the customer service from Zooplus, who offered me a discount if I kept the cage, as I didn't really want to return it. They replied to my email within an hour, which I think was pretty good. Anyway, aside from those little issues (which I have seen before on some much more expensive cages) the Alaska does seem sturdy and is an excellent size. I think I may use the included shelf, but without the cat head house, as Cookie can easily fit down the 'slide' and I think I can rest her existing house on the raised platform that the head fits onto. I am going to try adding a corner shelf to the other side and that should add even more space! Now I just need to find somewhere to keep the cage...

Re: Alaska hamster cage
My box was full of holes and had burst open entirely. There were four squares of air bag 'padding' that had completely deflated, so the cage was sliding about in a box almost twice it's size. I think it's testament to the strength of the base that it only had a tiny chip. Zooplus refunded me some money, so in the end I only had to pay £15 for the cage
They may have poor packaging but they do have decent customer service.
My cage is on top of my wardrobe lol. I just couldn't resist the bargain even though I don't have an immediate use for it.

Re: Alaska hamster cage
I know, me too! Just couldn't resist such a bargain! Cookie actually really likes her current cage, but she does enjoy climbing, so I think she should enjoy the extra space and the bars if I can find somewhere the Alaska will fit long term! I have some ideas, but need to wait until I have a few days off to rearrange furniture! Of course, that means I will have a spare duna multi...dangerous! My box looked like it had been stabbed quite a few times, the airbags were still inflated, but were just laying on top of the cage, so couldn't offer much protection. I think they may have had to offer quite a few partial refunds, but it is great to see good customer service still exists !!

Re: Alaska hamster cage
We've ordered one too, it'll probably replace our hamster heaven - a collapsible cage will fit in the car with our other holiday/travel cages a billion times easier. We'll work it out when it gets here though.
I would love to know why they've dispatched our order with two different couriers... The cage is with GLS and the rest of our items are in a package with yodel. Might be fun seeing which arrives first
